BIOFIRE®️ FilmArray can identify the causative organism together with selected antimicrobial-resistance genes in the same run — including markers such as mecA, vanA/vanB, KPC, NDM, OXA-48, CTX-M, IMP and VIM — with results available in about an hour.
This earlier information can support antimicrobial stewardship teams in making more informed decisions about whether treatment may need to be escalated, adjusted or de-escalated.
BIOFIRE detects genetic resistance markers; it does not replace culture or antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST). Instead, it provides additional information that can support earlier clinical decision-making while those results are pending.
