‼️The trusses are here‼️ we are one step closer to getting it water tight before the snow comes❄️. We managed to get some inside the house but had to take them out again!! 🤦‍♀️ Live and learn right? I can only imagine the next lesson we will learn when we have to put them up without a lift or a winch 🤔..stay tuned 🌊🏡🔨

So it was really windy yday and I had the wood stove going. I left the bunkie to walk up to the house and I seen smoke and a lot of it. It would seem that a spark from the wood stove had landed on a rotten tree stump and caught on fire. This video is after we dumped a bucket of water on it. It was smouldering down pretty deep..lesson learned. I was a little too comfortable with my little wood stove and even though we have gotten quite a bit of rain, it goes to show how dry everything still is. 🌊🔥😳

The bunkie is finally completed. Looking forward to many cozy days with the sound of the waves crashing and the fire crackling. Next up is installing the trusses. Follow along for more DIY builds and blunders lol

So after much thought and consideration we have come to the decision to order the trusses..with the westerly wind 💨 that we get and vaulted ceilings we want..it’s a really big risk to build a beautiful home and not know if the roof will withstand the weather. I have all the confidence in hubby but for his peace of mine, we will be ordering engineered trusses..the only supplier in central is saying they are 4 weeks out..so we are ordering them from the west coast and they should be here in a couple days.. and it cost less delivered from 4 to 5 hours away 💰..the question now is how are u getting them up without a lift or recovery winch? 🤔🏡🌊

So apparently, we’re building our own scissor trusses now. 🤣🔨

Because building a house ourselves wasn’t enough of a challenge!🤣

It was another successful day at Sunset Cove. Winter is approaching and we need to get the trusses on and Tyvac the outside before it snows..🌊🏡❄️

Some walls went up easy because we had friends and family around to help (thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️)..the right wall…was me and hubby 🤦‍♀️ We used the quad and winch and at one point I was almost straight up on two tires because a 40 foot wall is heavy🤣 but slowly it went up..my husband is extremely resourceful and creative when he’s figuring out how to do certain jobs..Thank god for that because I don’t have a clue. I’m just here ready to help with lots of limitations 😅..it is what it is..and we are getting it done!! I am so happy with the progress we have made since we bought the land on January 9, 2026..🌊🙌🏡
