In the garden of our User Meeting, we wanted a moment that would last: the unveiling of the ‘Nike of Taras’, giving physical form to what we do every day, searching for the ideal shape hidden within the material, and bringing it to light.

Eng. Giuseppe D’Ippolito, and sculptor Vincenzo del Monaco shared its meaning together, guiding the whole team through the journey that led to this artwork.

A symbol that will stay with us well beyond these two days.

Two days, one community.

Our User Meeting 2026 kicked off with a full day of scientific exchange dedicated to refractive surgery: clinical cases, experiences and results shared by the surgeons and professors who work with our technology every day.

The celebration continued with an amazing team dinner, where colleagues, partners, and friends gathered to share great food, laughter, and ideas under the Apulian sky.

A chance to listen, exchange and grow together.

Grazie a tutti i colleghi che hanno partecipato alla seconda tappa dei Basic & Advanced Training Courses, e grazie a chi continua a rendere possibile questo percorso: la SISO, l’Ospedale San Carlo di Nancy (GVM Care & Research), l’Università Europea di Roma e il Dott. Scipione Rossi, che lo organizza e coordina.

Due tappe, un unico filo: formare, in modo concreto, chi opera sulla cornea. Dall’aula alla sala operatoria, passando per i casi reali.

Cosa distingue un corso “Advanced” da uno “Basic”?
I casi che affronta.

Nella seconda tappa dei Training Courses S.I.S.O., il focus si è spostato sulle situazioni più complesse della chirurgia corneale terapeutica: cornee irregolari già operate (post-RK, post-PRK, post cataratta, post-trapianto), cheratoconi stabili, opacità corneali. Casi in cui la forma della cornea non è standard, e in cui pianificare bene fa la differenza.

È qui che la pianificazione con ray tracing mostra il suo senso: costruire il trattamento sulla geometria reale di quell’occhio, e non su un modello valido per tutti.

Le relazioni sono state tenute congiuntamente dal Dott. Scipione Rossi e dall’Ing. Giuseppe D’Ippolito.

Il percorso formativo iniziato a maggio continua.

Il 10 luglio, presso la UOC di Oftalmologia dell’Ospedale San Carlo di Nancy di Roma, si è svolta la seconda tappa dei Basic & Advanced Training Courses S.I.S.O.: l’Advanced Training Course dedicato alla chirurgia laser terapeutica.

Dopo i fondamenti affrontati nella prima giornata, questa volta il focus si è spostato sui casi più complessi: le cornee irregolari, i cheratoconi stabili nell’adulto, le opacità corneali. È qui che la pianificazione con ray tracing mostra ancor maggiormente il suo valore aggiunto, dove ogni occhio è diverso dall’altro e i modelli standard non bastano.

Un percorso promosso dalla S.I.S.O. - Società Italiana di Scienze Oftalmologiche, ospitato dal San Carlo di Nancy (GVM Care & Research), certificato dall’Università Europea di Roma e coordinato dal Dott. Scipione Rossi. iVis Technologies ha partecipato come partner tecnologico.

A refractive surgeon with over 25 years of experience, trained in Cairo and Madrid and Head of Ophthalmology within the Quirónsalud group, Dr. Ragaei has chosen the iVis 4D Suite for his practice at Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital, in Spain.

Alongside the live surgery, iVis directed a course at SICSSO 2026 dedicated to one of the hardest problems in cataract and refractive surgery: irregular corneas.

From IOL selection to the management of pseudophakic eyes, the session explored how ray-tracing is changing the way complex eyes are planned and treated, moving beyond standard regression formulas toward an analysis of each eye’s real optical behavior.

Performing remote surgery is one thing.
Performing it on a complex case is another.

The cornea treated at SICSSO had already undergone hyperopic LASIK.

That makes it irregular, harder to measure, harder to plan, harder to treat. It’s precisely the kind of case where standardized, model-based techniques struggle, and where a personalized, ray-tracing-based approach makes the difference.

Being able to manage a case like this remotely, with confidence, is the real signal: telesurgery at iVis is maturing from demonstration to clinical practice.

One standard of corneal care. Reproducible. Wherever the patient is.

Cagliari, SICSSO 2026. A surgeon in the congress hall. A patient at Policlinico di Bari. And a cornea that had already been operated on.

At the SICSSO Congress, Prof. Giovanni Alessio performed a post-LASIK hyperopic retreatment remotely, operating from the main hall in Cagliari on a patient in Bari, using an augmented reality headset and iVis remote-control technology.

The procedure was introduced by Giuseppe D’Ippolito, founder of iVis.
What makes this different is not that it happened. It’s that it’s no longer exceptional. Remote corneal surgery is becoming a consolidated technique for iVis, reliable enough to be performed even on complex, previously operated corneas, where precision matters most.

This is what the ray-tracing approach was built for: bringing standardized, high-level corneal care to the patient, wherever the patient is.

Cosa significa, concretamente, una giornata di formazione in chirurgia refrattiva?

Significa passare dalla teoria alla pratica in poche ore: in aula, lo studio della biomeccanica corneale, dei criteri di esclusione e del ray tracing; in ambulatorio, l’acquisizione degli esami diagnostici e la pianificazione del trattamento; in sala operatoria, l’esecuzione dei casi clinici acquisiti e pianificati durante la giornata.

Il ray tracing è il filo conduttore di questo percorso: un metodo per costruire un trattamento sulle caratteristiche reali di ogni occhio, e non su un modello standard.
