There are decades that don't just pass by. They leave an indelible mark on history.
For ASTRA, the 1980s were precisely that: an extraordinary journey fueled by ingenuity, passion, and a constant drive to push beyond boundaries.It all began in the industrious atmosphere of our vintage technical offices, among drafting tables, pencils, and large sheets of tracing paper. It was from those hand-drawn ideas that a revolution took shape: in 1983, the 300 Series was born, followed shortly after by the 6000 Series, true milestones destined to rewrite industry standards.

From now on, ASTRA trucks began to travel, bringing Italian craftsmanship to the most remote and extreme corners of the planet. During those years of great challenges, our identity was also reflected in historic advertising campaigns like "Per Aspera ad Astra" and in the consolidation of our long-standing dedication to special and military vehicles, serving national defense.

The 1980s taught us that no matter how tough the road or how distant the job site: wherever there is a challenge to overcome,
an ASTRA is ready to leave its mark.

In the second chapter of our conversation, Luigi Rizzi, former ASTRA Engineering Director, looks back on the day he joined the company, how a rather uncommon skill at the time, opened the door to an extraordinary career, and the path that led him to grow alongside ASTRA for 36 years.

The vehicles shown here are part of the ASTRA fleet currently in service with our partner Trevotech, based in Angola. A fleet of 120 vehicles, in a wide range of configurations, operates daily across the country, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and continuity in logistics missions.

We just wrapped up an incredible onboarding session for our newest team members in Piacenza, marking the kick-off of their journey with the IDV & ASTRA family.
