Attilio Marchetti Rossi is a professional Engineer in structural design of timber structures since 1981. After graduating at the University of Bologna_ Italy, Marchetti Rossi specializes in "Timber Engineering” at the University of Toronto, Canada. Since then he has been a consultant for the largest companies of prefabricated laminated wood in Italy and Europe. Rossi is a former member of t

he Commission CEN / TC 250 SC5 to the edition of Eurocode 5, the European building code for timber structures. Marchetti Rossi has designed and directed the most significant structures in glued laminated timber in Italy: arenas, ice rinks, shopping centers and agro-food centres, swimming pools and theatres. Among the most prestigious: the shop drawing design of the Auditorium of Rome “ PARCO DELLA MUSICA” by the architect Renzo Piano, the roof of the new Ice Rink of Turin for the 2006 Winter Olympics, the Olympic Swimming Stadium in Riccione, the grandstand of the soccer stadium in Pescara, the structural consolidation of the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Rossi is a speaker in several conferences in Europe and Canada on issues of structural timber in construction. He represented Italy in 2003 to World Conference of Engineering of Wood-IHF International Timber Forum in Garmisch (D).
