Description of Project:
Voltec signed a contract with SSangyong Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd for the improvement of water supply in the Kurdistan region. The project aims at improving quantity and quality of water supply situation in Halabja and Sulaymaniyah cities through improvement of water supply facilities by constructing a new water treatment plant, water transmission facilities, and reinforcing distribution networks. The scope of work consists of supplying Halabja area with 50,000 m3 per day drinking water to cater for the water demand for the horizon of year 2020 and, then, increasing this supply up to 100,000 m3 per day by 2021 to cover up to 2032 horizon. The water supply system encompasses the development of a water intake structure to capture water from Sirwan River upstream of Darbandikhan Dam, primary pump; secondary pump stations, a grit removal chamber and raw water pumping station, a water treatment plant, a high lift pumping station, transmission lines, pressure break tank and 3 terminal reservoirs, as well as reinforcement of Halabja and Sulaymaniyah distribution networks.
