From a weekend bike ride to engineering global milestones: A 22-year journey of curiosity, innovation, and family spirit at Forbes Marshall. - Aditya Kanetkar
My journey with Forbes Marshall officially began on 1st September 2004, but the story actually started with a bit of curiosity and a weekend bike ride. In 2003, I was working as a trainee engineer for an air compressor manufacturer in Pune that regularly procured a wide range of Forbes Marshall products. Intrigued by the quality of their engineering, I decided to take a chance; I hopped on my bike, drove straight to the Kasarwadi facility, and handed over my CV. A couple of interviews later, I was welcomed into the organisation.
I started as a SWAS (Steam and Water Analysis System) project proposal engineer, focusing on large OEM proposals. Soon after, I was given the opportunity to handle actual user and international business for our proprietary SWAS systems. This role took me all over India and across the globe, working on cross-country projects with diverse, international teams. These travels were instrumental in broadening my knowledge and deepening my understanding of global business within core industries.
Forbes Marshall has always encouraged us to embrace new challenges to deliver value-added services. Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of working on several pioneering milestones, including the first SWAS package for a 660MW supercritical power project in India, the first shelter-based SWAS package for a gas-based combined cycle power plant, and the first SWAS package for a 1000MW ultra-supercritical power project in Malaysia. I also contributed to the first manual sampling system for a coal gasification project in India, the first steam wetness measurement system for India’s 700MW PHWR, and the first packaged solution for controlling liquid dosing to manage pH and dissolved oxygen in boiler feed water. Alongside these achievements, I had the opportunity to work closely with the central R&D team on strategic projects like the Relisafe sampling components and Modular QSWAS packages.
What I appreciate most about Forbes Marshall is the vibrant, enthusiastic team, the workplace diversity, the highly accessible top management, and the strong family culture. Most importantly, the company's values and visions are not just statements on paper; they are a genuine way of living. Strategies might be drawn up in boardrooms, but successful ex*****on relies entirely on a passionate team. I am incredibly grateful to all my mentors, divisional colleagues, field sales teams, and various functions for making my journey so joyful.
