ARAI has a regional office in Chennai, named Regional Centre South which coordinates with customers in southern region. ARAI also has representatives in China and Korea. ARAI has strategic alliances with a few global associates. An experienced and well-trained human resource of 750+ is ARAI’s main strength. ARAI inter alia offers Testing & Validation, Certification & Homologation, Design & Development, Research & Development, Projects & Consulting, Standardisation & Harmonisation, Education & Training, Testing Solutions services. ARAI was pleased to host Shri Harinder Kumar, Secretary, TRAI, and Shri Pavan Kumar Gupta, Joint Advisor, TRAI -Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. ARAI’s senior officials and the team welcomed them for a high-level discussion on advancing connected mobility to strengthen India's road safety vision.

The interaction focused on developing India-specific V2X use cases alongside key priorities like indigenization, cybersecurity, infrastructure readiness, and data privacy. ARAI demonstrated its ongoing work in ADAS, Autonomous Systems, and V2X technologies (including V2V, V2I, and V2P applications) on our test track.

As connected mobility transitions from pilots to large-scale deployment, cross-sector collaboration will be critical.

Around 8 crore vehicles visit fuel retail outlets every day, with ~80% being petrol vehicles. Over 20 crore two-wheelers and 3 crore petrol cars have operated on E15+ / E19–E20 blends, with no verified evidence of widespread engine failure or vehicle breakdown attributable to ethanol blending.

Manufacturer service data further confirm no abnormal corrosion, wear or reduction in vehicle life due to E20 fuel.

A NITI Aayog life-cycle assessment found Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from sugarcane- and maize-based ethanol to be ~65% and ~50% lower, respectively, than petrol.

The findings highlight that feedstock and production pathways influence ethanol’s life-cycle environmental impact, underscoring the importance of sustainable and efficient feedstock choices.

E20: Tested, Validated and Ready for Modern Mobility.

The transition to E20 has been supported by rigorous testing and validation. ARAI reports that vehicles across different categories underwent field and laboratory testing regimes spanning approximately 40,000–60,000 km under various operating conditions.

The evaluations covered durability, performance and reliability, supporting the assessment of long-term vehicle and engine performance.
