Tucked away in Karnataka's Belagavi district, Kattanbhavi is a village that quietly solved what policymakers are still trying to figure out. Over 200 of its 250 households run on gobar gas - biogas generated right in their backyards from cattle dung and organic waste. No LPG cylinders. No refill bookings. No shortages.
The village's agriculture and dairy-based economy made it a natural fit for biogas, and residents have stuck with it for generations. Many families have been using the same system consistently for over four decades.
