A solid-state analog switch uses MOSFETs to pass or block signals without any moving parts. In this circuit, an N-channel and a P-channel MOSFET are connected together to act like a bidirectional switch, allowing signals to flow in both directions when turned ON.
The control input A determines the switch state. When A = 1 (logic high), the N-channel MOSFET receives a low gate voltage relative to its source and turns ON, while the P-channel MOSFET also turns ON due to the inverted control signal. This creates a low-resistance path, so the input signal passes to the output.
When A = 0 (logic low), both MOSFETs turn OFF, breaking the path and stopping signal flow.
This type of switch is widely used in multiplexers, sample-and-hold circuits, and analog signal routing because it is fast, reliable, and has no mechanical wear.
