The National Institute of Engineering has taken steps to create advanced training facilities to train not only our engineering students, but also other students, technicians and practicing engineers. The training programmes conducted by the centre, are designed for final and pre-final year engineering students. They impart hands on training on programming and operation of CNC Lathe and CNC Machini
ng centre. The course is a blend of both theory and practical sessions and is spread over a period of 4 weeks conducted during evening hours. The courses are conducted by a dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The unique feature of CNC centre is that a well trained team of students are involved in training groups of junior students. The Centre was established in September of 2006 under TEQIP - I grants. The centre was set up by Dr. N.V. Raghavendra, through the guidance of Dr. B. Sridhara & Dr. T. Shridhar and support from the entire Dept. of Mechanical Engg. So far there have been 18 batches of students trained at the centre.
