Is the new generation Hyundai Elite i20 really an un-compromise

Un-compromise. It's not a word that you will find in any dictionary, but Hyundai insists, it is what best describes the new Elite i20. How? Well, Hyundai seems to believe that the new i20 is in fact the ideal fusion of a compact SUV and sedan. So, it better have the utility and street creed of an SUV while being refined and dynamically sound as is expected of a sedan. Tall ask? You bet! But can it be true? Can the new Elite i20 really be that good for one to overlook an SUV or a sedan?

Exterior Design / Style
Now, before we answer that, let's talk styling. The Elite i20 might run on juicy looking 16in wheels, but as you can tell, it's no SUV. It is, nonetheless, a good looking large hatchback, we will give it that. The Elite i20 now follows what Hyundai calls its Fluidic Sculpture 2 design, which to you and me means a car that's less flamboyant and in-your-face, and more palatable than the likes of the Hyundai Verna and Elantra. It still has Hyundai's signature hexagonal grille and pulled back head lamps, but the mesh that integrates the fog lamps as part of the bumper is a new addition; and it looks good. The bonnet has more creases now and daytime running lights, interestingly, have been given a miss. Hyundai says customers weren't willing to pay for it.

In profile, the increase in wheelbase of the Hyundai Elite i20 is obvious. What isn't as clear is the reduction in length. The new i20 is 10mm shorter. But with its stronger shoulder line that runs from the front fender all the way into the tail lamps; the sloping down roofline; and the blackened C-pillar, the Elite i20 looks sportier and has a larger than class road presence. It is the rear where the Elite i20 looks very unlike the previous generation car. Its large LED tail lamps that run into the hatch dominate, and they look beautiful. But then on, it lacks the same styling flair the Elite i20 displays upfront and in profile. It has this ugly protrusion under the Hyundai badge (for the reversing camera) and the bumper though flowing in design, lacks character.

Good Experience and reviews by the customer of pune
The Battery on my Honda City ZX needed replacement and hence thought of trying the option of purchasing car battery online. Based on information given in this thread, compared quotes from www.batterybhai.com and www.carbatteryexpert.com.

The prices for almost all the batteries for Honda City ZX on www.carbatteryexpert.com are cheaper by about 100 bucks than www.batterybhai.com and hence ended up ordering Amaron 42B20L from www.carbatteryexpert.com.

I was extremely pleased with the quick response from http://www.carbatteryexpert.com team. Even though it was a Sunday, as soon as I placed a order, my phone rang asking me about when I would like the Battery delivered and informing me that a local installer would call me in a short while to confirm time and place for installation.

After this call, in another 20 minutes, the local installer called and time of installation was fixed after one hour and indeed the fellow showed up at my place on said time.

The battery was installed in about 15 minutes, all receipts, warranty card signed and after making payment the fellow was on its way.

The only negative that I can think of is payment though cash only for Pune City. However they do accept credit cards in Mumbai.

Over all a big thumbs up for www.carbatteryexpert.com.

Good Experience by the customer.
Just spent half an hour analyzing what battery I should be buying for my Fiesta 1.6S and where I should be buying it and then I open up T-Bhp and spot this thread in the Hot Threads.

Thanks GTO for starting this up. I am now going to book one online.

Just got this quote from the 3 websites: Car battery expert is the cheapest with it charging 500rs less than bookmybattery and 100rs less than batterybhai.

The local shop here quoted 4500 including my old battery for the same.

It is that time of the year when the heavens open up and everything turns green. With the arrival of the monsoons though also comes the advent of clear and present danger on the road that could in fact be staring you in your face and you won’t even notice! Here are a few simple things to take a look at even before you start driving to keep motoring safe and enjoy the rains to the fullest.

It is worthwhile checking the essentials on a car to make it rain-worthy.

1. Tyres: First and foremost, tyres must be in good shape with enough tread depth. The tread pattern on your tyres is the single most important thing in the rains that can keep you safely on the roads. Water on the tarmac gets expelled from under the tyres through the treads and prevents aquaplaning. Make sure your treads are deep enough by simply using a coin and checking if the depth is within safe limits – usually 3-5mm.

2. Washer Wiper: Wipers have to be of good quality. Between two monsoons, wiper blades become hard and get coated with traffic film from oily fumes and dust from road. The windscreen itself may be oily due to traffic film. The later two can be cleaned with soap solution. Lastly, check whether the wash wipe system is in working order. Do not forget to put two teaspoonful of liquid detergent in washer fluid. Once you are convinced that the wash wipe system is okay, do have a working trial.

3. Lights: The lights which seem okay in scanner may be inadequate in monsoon because wet roads absorb light and visibility suffers to a great extent. Lighting must be checked for brightness and correct pattern. Always use good quality bulbs. If inherently the lights are bad, do have auxiliary lights fitted – yellow lights give a better contrast. Fog lights cover only the kerbs and not distant objects.

4. Mud Flaps: When you’re driving, what you leave behind your car is as essential as what you’re driving into. No one likes driving behind a car that is spraying a lot of muddy water and, more importantly, that can be quite dangerous as well. Make sure you fit mud flaps on all four wheels before you start off. After all, driving safely also means driving responsibly.

Active Driving Aids
What It Is

You may be familiar with audible alerts that warn you of cars in your blind spot and such. But for 2014, we're seeing more cars than ever with "active" driving aids that can automatically apply steering, throttle and/or brake inputs to keep you in your lane and out of trouble.

Why It's Cool

Because as long as these systems work as intended (and we have little reason to suspect they won't), accidents -- and thus, injuries and deaths -- will undoubtedly be reduced. Even if a driver is fully focused on the road ahead, mistakes can still happen, and today's numerous distracted-driver issues only compound the problem. Some drivers will naturally resist having their authority usurped by computers, but we're convinced it's for a very good cause.

Is It Worth the Money?

From a safety standpoint, absolutely. Right now, however, these systems are typically offered as separate options or packages, and we couldn't blame anyone for wanting to save a few bucks. But if you look closely at active driving aids, you'll catch a glimpse of the self-driving cars that await us in the years ahead. It's a matter of when, not if, and this is another automotive technology topic that the 2013 Connected Car Expo will cover in detail.

Infotainment "Favorites"
What It Is

A feature pioneered by GM's MyLink, IntelliLink and CUE infotainment systems that lets you bookmark things you like (locations, songs, radio stations and even contacts in phone) all on the same screen, without being constrained by separate categories.

Why It's Cool

Traditionally, radio presets lived in the "radio" tab, phone favorites were in the "phone" section and so forth. This breaks down those arbitrary walls, allowing all your favorites, regardless of type, to be accessible from the same handy menu. It's both more efficient and more consistent with the "have it your way" ethos of the digital age.

Is It Worth the Money?

That's a bit of a trick question, as GM is the only manufacturer offering flexible "favorites" as of this writing. But it's definitely a must-have feature once you start using it, and we hope other manufacturers will soon follow GM's lead. To wit, one topic of conversation at this year's LA Connected Car Expo is whether uniform infotainment standards could allow future drivers to enjoy such no-brainer features across all brands.

Smartphone App Integration
What It Is

Technology that allows smartphones to connect to the in-car infotainment display, powering useful on-the-go apps such as Pandora Internet radio and many more, depending on the car.

Why It's Cool

While Bluetooth Audio allows you to wirelessly listen to music from your device, App integration adapts the interface to your car. For example, Bluetooth Audio allows you to hear to Pandora, App integration allows you to control Pandora from the car's radio or nav screen.

App integration is increasingly prevalent even in price-conscious segments (e.g., the new 2014 Toyota Corolla offers it), and for good reason. Today's car shoppers love their smartphones, and they don't want to set those handy apps aside while they're on the road. Since so many apps are useful for drivers -- whether you want to check movie times, reserve a table at a restaurant, you name it -- it just makes sense to incorporate them directly into a car's central display screen, often with enhanced features. There's also a safety angle here; the 2014 Honda Accord, for example, will let you thumb-up/down a Pandora song without taking your eyes off the road. We expect this kind of functionality to become more common going forward.

Is It Worth the Money?

For tech-savvy car shoppers, probably so. But consider this: Your smartphone doesn't need app integration to help you on the road, particularly if you have Bluetooth Audio, which permits apps such as Pandora and Google Maps to stream audio directly to the speakers.
