Usha Martin was invited to a workshop on “Safe Operations & Maintenance of Winders in Underground Mines,” organised by one of India’s leading coal mining companies.

Our East Zone team, along with technical experts, shared insights on wire rope construction, installation, handling, storage, lubrication, maintenance, inspection, discard criteria, safe load handling, and failure analysis. The sessions also featured real-life examples and interactive discussions with engineers, managers, maintenance teams, and safety officers.

At our Ranchi Unit, we recently conducted a comprehensive training session on Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment. The session provided employees with valuable insights into identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and adopting effective safety practices across plant operations.

The training covered key aspects of hazard identification and risk evaluation, the hazard triangle, safety culture ladder, and the hierarchy of controls. Through interactive exercises, real-life examples, and engaging case studies, participants gained practical knowledge of risk prevention and the importance of clearly defined safety roles through the RACI Matrix.

By empowering our employees with the right knowledge and tools, we continue to strengthen our commitment to a safer workplace and a culture where safety remains everyone’s responsibility.

Recently, on World Standards Day 2026, Usha Martin was honoured by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) at the Stakeholders’ Conclave in Ranchi in recognition of its contribution to and excellence in promoting BIS standards.

Since receiving its first BIS product licence in 1964, Usha Martin has actively contributed to the development and promotion of Indian Standards through participation in BIS technical committees. Today, the company maintains 16 BIS licences across its steel wire and wire rope product lines at Ranchi, including a recent licence for fibre cores under IS 1804. Its overseas manufacturing unit, Usha Siam in Thailand, also holds a BIS licence under IS 2266.

At the conclave, Mr. Sandeep Jaiswal, Sr. DGM – Quality Assurance, represented Usha Martin and delivered a technical presentation on “Wire Rope Applications and Indian Standards”, emphasising the importance of applying the appropriate Indian Standards in steel wire rope applications.

OCEANFIBRE HMPE slings are in operation at the Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm in the Baltic Sea, approx. 40 km offshore Ustka, Poland, in collaboration with Van Oord — marking another significant milestone in our contribution to the offshore wind sector. Manufactured by Brunton Shaw UK, these HMPE slings combine high strength with lightweight construction, providing a reliable and efficient solution for demanding offshore lifting operations. Their use demonstrates how advanced fibre-based lifting solutions can support safer, more efficient and practical operations in challenging marine environments.

The successful installation reflects our commitment to engineering excellence and developing solutions for the evolving needs of the global renewable energy industry. Such projects further strengthen our experience and capabilities in supporting large-scale offshore wind developments. Each OCEANFIBRE heavy-lift sling is fully designed, manufactured and tested in-house, with third-party verification providing the highest level of assurance and safety for our customers and their teams onboard.

Usha Martin Foundation’s team organised an event at Government High School, Adamwal, Hoshiarpur. The initiative aimed to support students and strengthen access to essential resources within the local education community.

As part of the programme, water coolers, UV water filters, notebooks, and school bags were distributed to 18 government elementary, middle, and high schools across Hoshiarpur district, contributing to a more conducive learning environment for students.

The event was attended by honourable dignitaries, teachers from all 18 schools, and members of the Usha Martin team. The dignitaries highlighted the importance of CSR-led community development and appreciated Usha Martin’s continued efforts in supporting community welfare.

Our North Zone team conducted a technical training workshop for one of the leading crane manufacturers. The training focused on safe handling, maintenance, inspection, and standard practices of steel wire ropes, helping to extract the optimum service life of the product.

The seminar also covered key aspects such as wire rope construction, lubrication, handling, maintenance, damage prevention, and inspection practices, along with an interactive discussion between Industry experts and participants.

The programme highlighted Usha Martin’s commitment to technical excellence, safety, and promoting best practices in steel wire rope applications.
