Engineering education is expected to impart the students with the necessary academic knowledge along with the practical engineering application skills. Hence, it is encouraged that the students take up internships or apprenticeship with the industries to ensure that the students develop a pragmatic approach towards solving engineering issues. With, limited opportunities for internships and large n
umber of students graduating as engineers each year makes it highly difficult for hundreds of enthusiastic engineers to get practical industry exposure. The need for engineers to undergo a guided learning process under the supervision of experienced engineering consultants is identified and addressed at As-Suffa Academy (ASA). ASA has been established with the aim to bridge the gap between the academia and the booming oil and gas industry in the State of Andhra Pradesh. At ASA engineers will be exposed to a general overview of the process flow in the oil and gas industry from crude to the final processing. Further, it will specifically address the discipline of ‘pipeline integrity engineering’ which will form core of the final year ‘Engineering Project’.
