The Great Gurjan Plywood Scam has been running through every hardware store in the country — longer than the brown bread scam.
Gurjan is not a quality grade. It is a wood species from Myanmar. Most plywood brands removed Gurjan from their core over a decade ago. Import data proves it.
What you're actually getting is a thin Gurjan veneer — sometimes as thin as a dupatta — over a cheap core. Or simply a board with "GURJAN" stamped on it and nothing more.
Your carpenter recommends it because he was taught what the industry wanted him to believe. Now you know better.
