Indian showcases Custom ‘Big Chief’

The International Motorcycle Show in New York City saw American two-wheeler veterans Indian unveil a completely customised version of their Chief Classic motorbike called the ‘Big Chief Custom’. Decked in an array of Indian’s aftermarket accessory options, the whole point of this one-off, in-house custom job is to throw the spotlight on the Chief’s versatility and customisation potential. Judging by the pictures, it seems like they got what they wanted, because the bike looks spectacular, and can easily be set apart from the stock Chief Classic.

Kawasaki Z1000

2014 Kawasaki Z1000 launched at INR 12.5 lakhs

Bajaj Auto Yesterday launched the 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 and the 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 in Pune, Maharashtra.
The new Z1000 is powered by a 1,043 cc, four-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled engine, producing 140 hp at 10,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 7,300 rpm. The naked street bike features a 6-speed gearbox. The same engine is also used in the new Ninja 1000, which has also been launched in India yesterday.

The 2014 Kawasaki Z1000 is priced at INR 12.5 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Pune). First deliveries are scheduled to commence early next year.

Vespa's new scooter is a well rounded package. The LX125 is just as stylish as it gets on a scooter. This is unquestionably going to be the scooter members of the fairer s*x will aspire to reach college astride, having said which, affluent male businessmen could also want to be seen on one. Barring its ineffective front brake, the LX rides and handles fine too, which leaves just one hurdle it is sure to find hard to overcome, its Rs 70,000 on-road price, which makes this India's most heavily overpriced scooter, hands down.

Hero MotoCorp Splendor-iSmart
Expected Launch: Early 2014
Expected Price: Rs 45,000 to 50,000

Hero would be adding a new variant of its bread and butter bike, the Splendor iSmart. The latest iteration of the Splendor boasts a segment first i3S technology (Idle Stop and Start System) which is a start-stop system that shuts the engine down while the bike is at idling and in neutral, while it automatically starts the engine as soon as the clutch is depressed and first gear is selected. This innovative technology goes on to further improve the already impressive fuel efficiency of the Splendor. Apart from this clever technology, the Splendor iSmart gets revised styling, which includes new body panels, graphics, paint schemes and refreshed instrumentation cluster. This would be a very important bike for Hero as the competition in the entry level section has become fierce with Honda adding its Dream Yuga and Neo to this segment and if Hero wants to maintain its crown as the number one two-wheeler manufacturer in the country, then the Splendor-iSmart would have a very huge role to play.
