Same wall. Same stone. One switch. 💡

This is our imported onyx wall at the showroom, photographed twice.

Unlit, it’s lovely stone. Soft colours, gentle swirls. You’d walk past it.

Lit from behind, it stops being stone and becomes the light in the room. Every vein, every swirl, glowing from the inside.

Here’s why only onyx can do this: it’s translucent. Cut thin and backed with an LED panel, light passes right through it. Marble can’t do this. Granite definitely can’t. Onyx just does. ✨

And it isn’t only for walls. Bar fronts, reception desks, bathroom vanities, the wall behind your bed, your mandir. Anywhere you want the surface itself to glow.

Honestly, photos don’t do it justice. The whole wall is lit up and waiting at our showroom — come stand in front of it once and you’ll understand why clients go quiet for a second.

Which panel is your favourite? They’re all numbered in our heads, but tell us the colour. 😄

Five questions worth asking before you pay for marble. Ask them anywhere you buy, not just here. 🤍

1. What is the thickness? Thinner slabs cost less and crack more. Two quotes can look very different for a reason that nobody mentions out loud.

2. Is my whole order from the same lot? Two lots will never match perfectly. And once it’s on your floor, you’ll notice it every single day.

3. Which finish suits this room? Polished for drama, matte for everyday, leathered for grip. Same stone, completely different feel.

4. Does it need sealing, and how often? Some stones do, some don’t. This is the question most people only think of after the first stain.

5. Who cuts and installs it? Honestly, this one matters most. A beautiful slab can be ruined in one afternoon by a careless installer.

Save this before your next showroom visit. Ask all five. Any good dealer will be happy you did. 😊

What else would you ask? Tell us in the comments and we’ll answer.

Most homes plan the kitchen for weeks and the mandir in ten minutes. 🤍

And then it becomes the one corner you sit in front of every single morning.

Six ideas, if you are planning yours:

A full marble back wall. One stone, floor to ceiling. Nothing to clean between joints, nothing to distract the eye.

Backlit onyx. Put a light behind it and the stone itself glows. For a mandir, nothing comes close to this feeling.

A carved jaali. The oldest trick in Indian architecture, and still the prettiest. Light, air and a little privacy, all at once.

An inlay floor. Even a small pattern in the centre makes the whole space feel thought about.

Short on space? A floating marble ledge with a carved back panel is genuinely enough. We have done lovely ones in two feet.

And lighting. Please, warm light, not cool white. Warm makes marble glow. White makes your mandir look like a hospital corridor. 😄

Save this if a renovation is coming. And tell us — which one would you do in your home?

Nine nights. Nine colours. And it turns out, nine stones. 🙏
Orange, white, red, royal blue, yellow, green, grey, purple and peacock green — we went looking through our showroom for a stone to match each day of Navratri, and found every single one.
Nature got there first, as usual. Millions of years before anyone decided which colour goes with which day. ✨
Which day’s colour is your favourite? Tell us the number and we’ll show you that slab.
Wishing you and your family a very happy Navratri from all of us at Varun Marbles.

Three things people say about Italian marble that just aren’t true. 🤍
“Italian is always better than Indian marble.”

Not really. Italian gives you that dramatic veining. Indian marble is harder, easier to live with, and genuinely better for floors and mandirs. Different stones for different jobs, that’s all.

“Marble can’t go in a kitchen.” It can. Seal it, wipe spills quickly, keep the lemon away. It needs a little care, not a miracle.

“It’s only for mansions.” This one we hear the most, and it stops people before they even walk in. There’s a huge range, and honestly, one marble wall or a small island can change an entire room.

So, be honest — which one did you believe? No judgement, we’ve heard them all. 😄

Okay, stone lovers. This one separates the guessers from the knowers. 👀

Look closely. Those layers, that glow, those honey and caramel bands running through it.

Is it A, B, C or D? Drop your answer in the comments. No cheating by zooming into our older posts. 😄

Little hint: one of these four doesn’t just reflect light. It lets light pass right through it.

Answer tomorrow, right here in the comments. And if you get it right, come visit us and we’ll show you the real slab.

We could easily tell you yes. We sell Italian marble, after all. 😄

But the honest answer is: it depends on what kind of person you are.

Italian marble in a kitchen is stunning. Nothing comes close to that veining, and it stays beautifully cool through a Delhi summer.

It is also porous. Lemon, vinegar and tomato will etch the surface. Haldi and oil will stain it if they sit overnight. Seal it, wipe spills quickly, and it stays gorgeous — ignore it, and it will show you exactly what you cooked last week.

So here’s what we actually tell people who walk in:

Put it where it is seen, not where you cook. An island, a backsplash, a dining top.

And if you want it on your main counter anyway, go in knowing it will age. Some people are heartbroken by the first mark. Others call it character. Only you know which one you are. 🤍

Want zero maintenance? Quartz or granite, and you will never think about it again.

Honest advice before you spend, every time. Ask us anything in the comments.

Everyone sees the finished countertop. Almost nobody sees this part.

Before a slab reaches your kitchen, it gets measured, cut, shaped at the edges and polished - and every one of those steps is done by hand, by people who have been doing it for years. One wrong measurement and an expensive slab becomes scrap. 😅

The cutting is our favourite bit to watch. The water spray, the sound, the slow reveal of that clean edge. We could honestly watch it all day.

So the next time you run your hand over a smooth countertop, know that a lot of patience went into that feeling. 🤍

Sound on for this one.
