Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a radiant and profound Hindu festival that resonates with the spirit of victory over darkness. It holds a special place in the hearts of millions and signifies the eternal battle between good and evil. Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of the lunar calendar's dark fortnight (Dashami), usually in September or October. It falls at the end of the Navratri festival.

Celebrating the triumph of good over evil, Dussehra fills our hearts with hope and positivity. As we burn the effigy of Ravana, may we also burn away our inner demons and embrace righteousness in our lives.

We, at MESA, NIT Durgapur, wish everyone a joyous and blessed Dussehra filled with the fragrance of joy, the lights of positivity, and the colors of success!

Mahalaya means the arrival of Goddess Durga. Durga Puja officially starts with Mahalaya, the first day of the ten-day festival. This day marks the beginning of Debi Paksha, the era of the Goddess and the end of Pitru Paksha, which is celebrated in honour of Goddess Durga and her nine forms.
Recognised as one of the largest festivals celebrated in India , Durga Puja, is all about winning over darkness with light, and over evil with goodness. May the light of wisdom and knowledge shine upon you, illuminating your path on this day.
We, MESA, NIT Durgapur wish Shubho Mahalaya to you and your loved ones. Let goddess Durga bestow upon you all her blessings.
