Wireless EV charging at 7 kW sounds like a hardware milestone. The real complexity is in the software.

When Hinduja Tech took on the development of a production-grade wireless EV charging system, the challenges weren't just about transmitting power through an air gap; they were about doing it safely, reliably, and in full compliance with automotive standards under real-world conditions.

That meant building a complete AUTOSAR software architecture to handle:
→ Real-time coil misalignment compensation without dropping the charging session
→ Electromagnetic compatibility-aware software control loops engineered to stay within CISPR 25 limits
→ Microsecond-level power regulation using Complex device drivers within AUTOSAR abstractions
→ ISO 26262-compliant fault detection across a distributed transmitter-receiver system
→ ISO 15118 vehicle-to-grid integration for secure, bidirectional charging sessions

For OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, the message is clear: software architecture decisions made early in the programme determine how quickly and confidently you can reach homologation.

Real-world parking is never perfect. A few centimeters off the mark, a sudden surge in the power grid, or a wave of electromagnetic interference from the vehicle next to yours; For most wireless EV charging systems, that is enough to completely break the experience.

Because the ultimate challenge in wireless charging has never been the hardware. It is the 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 required to hold everything together when conditions are far from ideal.

That is where 𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗷𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 comes in.

We engineer the AUTOSAR-based software stack that makes wireless EV charging production-ready, not just in controlled environments, but in the messy, imperfect reality of everyday driving.

Here's what that looks like in practice:
→ 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: We build the logic that tells a vehicle exactly where the charging pad is, combining multiple sensor inputs in real time, so power transfer is precise, every time.
→ 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: Our software makes continuous, efficient charging possible even when the vehicle isn't perfectly positioned, turning a real-world limitation into a solved problem.
→ 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: We engineer communication and power stacks that filter out field interference from surrounding vehicles and grid infrastructure, without compromising efficiency or safety.
→ 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗢𝗦𝗔𝗥 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: From Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) drivers and Basic Software (BSW) configuration to Runtime Environment (RTE) integration and application layer software, we own the complete software architecture.
→ 𝗘𝗖𝗨-𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 & 𝗨𝗗𝗦 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: OEM-specific Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) built into the charging control Electronic Control Unit (ECU) from the ground up, not bolted on later.
→ 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Resolving complex boot sequence challenges in charging ECUs with verified, updated stacks.
→ 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Bringing existing charging software up to AUTOSAR-standard architecture without loss of function.

The gap between a wireless EV charging prototype and a production-ready system is almost entirely a software problem. We close that gap.

Wireless EV charging is often portrayed as a hardware story: coils, resonant circuits, and power electronics working together to charge your car without a single cable. But the truth is far more interesting.

The real magic isn't in the coils, it's in the software that orchestrates every microsecond of the charging session.

Here's what's actually happening behind that "effortless" charging experience:
Precision Alignment: Before charging even begins, software-controlled positioning systems guide your vehicle to the exact spot needed for efficient power transfer, compensating for misalignment of up to ±100mm.

Real-Time Power Control: As power flows from the grid to the battery through multiple conversion stages, software makes millisecond-level adjustments to minimise losses and maintain efficiency.

Safety & Adaptability: From a coin on the charging pad to a shift in temperature, only intelligent software can detect, adapt, and protect, something hardware alone simply cannot do.

With the global wireless EV charging rapidly evolving, getting the software architecture right isn't optional; it's the foundation on which the entire industry is being built.

What does end-to-end Body-in-White (BIW) line engineering actually look like?

Designing a collision-free BIW assembly line demands precision at every level, from the first clamping plan to the final validated robot sequence.

At Hinduja Tech, our manufacturing engineering team delivers complete BIW line design programmes for automotive OEMs, integrating process engineering, fixture design, offline programming, and full-line simulation into a single, connected delivery model.

Our approach delivers fully validated, collision-free BIW lines where every tool path is checked, every clearance verified, and every sequence proven before a single component reaches the floor.

Building a collision-free Body-in-White (BIW) assembly line is one of the most demanding engineering challenges in automotive manufacturing.

Every robot path, every fixture clearance, every joining sequence has to be precisely engineered and validated before the line goes live. One unvalidated conflict at production does not just affect a single station. It affects the entire programme.

At Hinduja Tech, we took complete ownership of a full underbody main line programme for a leading passenger car manufacturer in the UK, from pre-engineering study through to full-line simulation and final validation, ensuring every conflict was resolved digitally before the line was physically built.

The results:
✅ Collision-free underbody main line, fully validated and production-ready
✅ Every robot path and clearance was proven digitally before physical build
✅ Operator safety built into the design from the outset

Building a Body-in-White (BIW) line physically first and discovering problems later is a risk automotive manufacturers can no longer afford.

For decades, automotive programmes followed a physical-first approach. Design the line, build it, and discover the problems during launch, resulting in delayed programmes, expensive rework, and compressed milestones.

The difference between a smooth launch and a delayed one is increasingly being determined in the design stage, not on the shop floor.

In our latest blog, we cover:
💡 Why physical-first BIW line engineering creates avoidable programme risk
💡 How simulation and digital twins are changing the way BIW lines are launched
💡 What Hinduja Tech delivers across global OEM programmes
