Team Vigyaan is the team who is officially representing the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh at SAC (Spaceport America Cup): IREC (Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition) 2017. The objective of the team and competition is to deliver a net payload of 4.0 kg at an altitude of 9.144 km using a high-power sounding rocket. Three members are from the Aerospace, one member is from Product
ion and Industrial Design and one member is from Electronics and Communication Engineering Department. The member who has taken the lead and is at the forefront is from Dept. of Aerospace Engineering and other team members embraced the challenge and we’re working collectively to achieve the same goal by rendering our best-dedicated efforts. Someone truly said that dreams need sweat, determination and hard work if you want to make them happen. Team Vigyaan also have a dream to represent their university and the country at world’s largest rocket engineering competition at Las Cruces this year and we’re thriving at our best to make this dream real. Steve Jobs once said that the first few people of your small team decide the future of your company and us, a five-membered team have the best people to prove this right. We believe that we have the competent design and correct guidance to win this competition but all we need is financial back to make it a reality. The team’s integrity, patience and persistence have been tested every time when things went south but, the team’s resilience has been up to the mark every time. The member who initiated the project has a rich experience in the field of high-power, professional sounding rocketry, cloud seeding rocket launch programme and in conducting sounding rocket launches. Another team member also has proficiency and expertise in the field of liquid propulsion systems as applied on the Scramjet engines (Hypersonic vehicle, as a part of the DRDO’s HSTDV, Hypersonic Test Drive Vehicle project) and Rocket Propulsion Systems. Other team members are well equipped with the theoretical, practical and applied knowledge of electronic circuitry, electronic equipment’s, microcontrollers, communication systems and high-end exhaustive coding.
