The Reality Behind Calibration Services in Pharma
In recent years, many pharma companies have started squeezing calibration service providers with unreasonably low prices, refusal to allow fair price revisions, and by taking parallel quotations just to pressure vendors.
What most people don’t see is the impact this has on quality and safety.
Calibration is not just a formality.
It directly affects product quality, regulatory compliance, and patient safety. When service providers are forced to work at unsustainable rates, the result is:

✅ Difficulty retaining skilled technicians
✅ Delays and shortcuts
✅ Increased chance of errors
✅ Inadequate maintenance of instruments that are critical in pharma operations
Meanwhile, expectations remain sky-high — “top quality service at the lowest possible cost.” It simply doesn’t work that way.
Good calibration requires trained manpower, traceable good accuracy standards, controlled environments, and time. All of these come with real cost.
If pricing pressure continues, the industry risks a future where genuine, accredited, and ethical service providers cannot survive — leaving room only for those willing to cut corners.
