National Engineers' Day 2023:
Celebrating Innovation and Sustainability

Every year on September 15, National Engineers' day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sir M Vishveshvaraya also known as India's first civil engineer.

Apart from India, Sri Lanka and Tanzania both celebrate Engineers' day on September 15, to commemorate the contributions made by Sir M Vishveshvaraya in their respective countries.

Sir M. Vishveshvaraya was born on 15 September 1861 at Muddenahalli, Kingdom of Mysore (in present-day Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka).
We all know Sir MV for KRS Dam as one of the best works of his life.
On this special day we shall go through his career timeline to know better about his work.

Career timeline of Sir MV

Assistant Engineer in Bombay, 1885; served in Nasik, Khandesh (mainly in Dhule) and Pune
Services lent to Municipality of Sukkur, Sind, 1894; designed and carried out waterworks for the municipality.

Executive Engineer, Surat, 1896.

Assistant Superintending Engineer, Pune, 1897–1899; visited China and Japan, 1898.

Executive Engineer for Irrigation, Pune, 1899
Sanitary Engineer, Bombay, and member, Sanitary Board, 1901; gave evidence before Indian Irrigation Commission
Designed and constructed automatic gates patented by him at Lake Fife Storage Reservoir; introduced a new system of irrigation known as "Block System", 1903; represented the Bombay Government at Simla Irrigation Commission, 1904; on special duty, 1905.

Superintending Engineer, 1907; visited Egypt, Canada, United States, and Russia, 1908.

Consulting Engineer to Hyderabad/Nizam State supervised and carried out engineering works on Musi river; Hyderabad floods of 1909.

Retired from British Service, 1909.

Chief Engineer and Secretary to Government of Mysore, 1909.

Dewan of Mysore, Public Works Department and Railway, 1913.

Board of Directors of Tata Steel, 1927–1955.

Our Beloved President Sri MGR sir met renowned singer Sri Vijaypraksh sir on the auspicious occasion of Gruhapravesha of his new house in Mysore.

Dear Members,

As discussed in meeting during KPEA office inauguration, KPEA Team approached the following places in Mysore with a request letter to extend Discount facility to all KPEA Members and their families.

4.SPR Veg Restaurant
5.Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre
6.Kannan Diagnostic Centre

KPEA President discussed and requested with the concerned owners of the above firms and got assured Good Discount facility to be offered to KPEA members by next week.

Once confirmation received will be informed in the group and KPEA members are requested to make use of this facility.

Dear KPEA Members,

Raichur KPEA Members requested to extend the Pathalogy Testing welfare scheme to KPEA members in Raichur and if possible for all KEBEA engineers by allowing them to avail this benefit on the KPEA created platform.

Accordingly, Team KPEA consented.

Further took decision to arrange the Health Camp to all Engineers without any discrimination on this memorable Birth Anniversary of Sri.Babasaheb Dr.B R Ambedkar.

Raichur KPEA members has applauded our president KPEA team for extending such a excellent welfare scheme to all KEB engineers along with KPEA members.
