A 3D model is not automatically BIM.
That is probably the simplest way to understand it.
The model gives teams a visual representation of the building. BIM connects that geometry with useful project information, member sizes, materials, assemblies, quantities, drawings, revisions and construction phases.
For a steel project, this can help connect design, detailing, coordination, procurement, fabrication and er****on planning much earlier.
The real value is better information, fewer gaps between teams and the ability to identify issues before they become expensive changes on site.
