Lose the supply fan in an engine room and the running machinery starts to starve. What takes that fan out at sea is nothing a landside fan ever meets.
Salt-laden humid air gets under the coating and works on every weld, fastener and cut edge. The fan lives with vibration and the vessel's roll, so mountings, shaft and bearings carry loads no landside fan ever does. And in a cargo hold or pump room the atmosphere being cleared can be flammable — which changes the wheel, the clearances and the materials, not just the motor.
Three jobs, one unforgiving environment: supply air into the machinery space for combustion and cooling, exhaust for heat and oil mist, purge for a closed hold before crew go in.
We will not claim a long marine reference list we do not have. What we will do is engineer to your duty and state every choice — corrosion protection, spark-resistant construction, class-society intent — on the GA drawing you sign before we cut metal. Up to 2,25,000 CMH, 2,000 mmWC and 425 HP.
