MaxioCel continues to make an impact in Croatia!

We recently joined the Croatia Nurse Training Programme in P**a, hosted by the Croatian Society of Wound Healing under the leadership of Doc.dr.sc Mirna Zulec.

As part of the programme, we conducted dedicated MaxioCel® workshops for more than 60 nurses, combining hands-on training with discussions around real-world clinical experiences and successful patient outcomes. We explored how 100% chitosan-based MaxioCel® supports wound healing.

A big thank you to the Croatian Society of Wound Healing, Doc.dr.sc Mirna Zulec, and the Salvus team for their collaboration and shared commitment to advancing wound care through education and innovation.

When deep-tech R&D meets relentless ex*****on, true healthcare innovation happens. 🚀

Here is the behind the scenes of this landmark study by the brilliant minds at Axio and Harvard Medical School that got published in the prestigious Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS)🔬🌎

For years, medical consensus held a rigid view on how certain biomaterials worked. But when you refuse to accept "established limits" and approach a problem with first principls, you shatter old paradigms.

💡 The Big Breakthrough
Uncontrolled bleeding accounts for ~35% of pre-hospital hemorrhagic deaths, a risk that skyrockets for patients on blood thinners (anticoagulants). Standard options often fail them.

Inspired by the intricate, tortuous architecture of lung alveoli, we engineered a next-generation biomaterial design.

🔬Breaking the Dogma: For a long time, conventional medical wisdom assumed chitosan couldn't directly trigger the body's physiological clotting pathway. We proved that wrong.

🧫The Molecular Discovery: Our paper reveals that our engineered hemostat directly activates platelets via Toll-like Receptor 2 (TLR-2).

Because anticoagulant medications do not block this specific receptor, our technology bypasses the drug-induced barriers, successfully triggering the coagulation cascade anyway.

🧪The Result: Rapid blood absorption and localized microthrombi formation that stops massive arterial and tissue bleeding in just minutes, even under anticoagulation therapy.

This wasn't just a win for the lab; it's a testament to what happens when product R&D and world-class academic research operate with a unified vision. This journey has been all about grit, elite engineering, and a shared mission to save lives globally.

Chronic, non-healing wounds present a significant challenge in community care. Common issues can include:

🔹Persistent infection.
🔹Pain during and between dressing changes.
🔹Friable tissue, prone to bleeding.
🔹Trauma caused by frequent dressing removal and reapplication.

Five community-based patients with complex, slow-healing wounds, presenting with infection, were evaluated for up to 6 weeks (depending on wound progression). The chitosan dressing was used as a primary dressing.

This evaluation demonstrates positive outcomes in wound healing rates, infection management, patient comfort, and reduced healthcare professional burden with the 100% chitosan dressing
