Rufsak Leatherworks

Rufsak Leatherworks Handcrafted leather products Rafi Sackville is an educator living in Ma’alot in Western Galil.

He is a homeroom teacher to a class of youth at risk and teaches English at Ort Ma’alot, the local high school. When he’s not in the classroom he can be found in his workshop creating an array of beautiful leather products. He has been working in leather since 1980, when he chanced upon a large piece of leather outside Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem, and turned it into a shoulder bag using a sharpened bu

tter knife and fork. As leather craft involves no machinery the process of making leather products is time consuming and meticulous. It begins with the cutting of the leather hide and works its way through dyeing, marking stitch lines, hand stitching, and finishing. This is the beauty of Rufsak Leatherworks; hand made items that are lifetime companions; made to order and made to last.
