hello,
today i want to talk about manufacturing process of a part in the picture.
first off all we need to ask our self the right questions to insure the most stable and efficient manufacturing process.
in first look at the drawing we can see definitions and hidden instructions to how we should manufacture the part.
1. we can see the drawing has datum's and geometric tolerances that guide us towards the manufacturing process in my opinion this is perfect for CNC machining but not just CNC machining we need to choose the right machine.
we can see the part has features of both mill and lathe machining
to ensure the part precision and "hit" all the Dimensions i would prefer to machine this part on a lathe/mill machine so we can minimize taking the part of the machine.
2. we need to identify what material the customer requested,
from there we can choose the right tools and tool grade for this operation.
for our and the customer sake we need to get a C.O.C file from the material manufacturer this way we can ensure the right material and quality.
3. after the machining process we have to know what surface finish the customer wants and plan accordingly.
4. after insuring the part meets all of the quality and Dimensions,
we need to ensure the right type of packaging for the part so the customer can get the part without damage.
It all seems obvious but if we ask the right questions we can prevent a lot of problems in the manufacturing process.
