On January 15th early morning, Maagan has been informed by the port of Haifa that a container vessel, sailing under the name of Seaspan Emerald, is grounded in position 32'54.008"N, 035'02.413"E near the cost of Acre, Israel.
The Vessel local insurance Representatives “M. Dizengoff & Co. P&I Representatives Ltd.”, have activated Maagan for the salvage support activities and environmental protection services.
Maagan has immediately deployed a diving team to execute an initial emergency Diving survey, to ensure the vessel’s hull remained intact, whilst activating the company’s oil spill protection department which was activated simultaneously by the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MOEP).
The conducted underwater survey concluded that the hull integrity remains – nevertheless, Maagan has deployed oil spill boom in the vicinity of the vessel, and placed on high readiness, dedicated teams as additional precautions and as instructed by the MOEP.
On January 17th, by the help of an 80t bollard pull and an additional 30t bollard pull tug boat, the vessel was released from the reef and escorted back to Haifa port - Currently, post salvage activities, such as underwater survey and systems inspections are being conducted at the port of Haifa.
