AI is becoming part of our everyday working lives, bringing new opportunities alongside new responsibilities. Following Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we asked Ciarán Goodwin, our IT Lead at OFS, to share his perspective on using AI safely and protecting business information.

His advice highlights a few important considerations:

• Free and personal AI tools may use the information you enter to train their models. Always use approved systems when handling company or client data.
• AI systems are not immune to security vulnerabilities, including risks of sensitive information being exposed.
• AI-generated information and code should always be reviewed and verified before use, regardless of the model.

Behind every Data Centre is the infrastructure that keeps it powered.

As Data Centre demand continues to grow, access to reliable and resilient power is becoming increasingly important. Where grid capacity is constrained, or additional resilience is required, an Energy Centre can provide locally generated power to support the Data Centre. Depending on the facility, this can bring together power generation equipment, auxiliary systems, backup generation and energy storage within one critical power environment.

But generating power is only part of the challenge. An Energy Centre must also be operated, monitored and maintained to support safe and reliable performance. This is where Operations & Maintenance becomes a critical part of Data Centre power infrastructure.

Following two days at the Energy Exports Conference 2026 in Aberdeen, where OFS’ Tim Burnett joined the “Power is King for Data Centres” panel, we’re reflecting on some of the key themes shaping the future of Data Centre infrastructure.

Discussions throughout the conference reinforced the importance of energy security and resilience and the need for infrastructure capable of supporting future growth.

For Data Centres, meeting growing power requirements goes beyond securing generation capacity. Long-term performance also depends on how effectively that infrastructure is operated and maintained.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be looking more closely at Energy Centres and the role Operations & Maintenance plays in supporting critical Data Centre power infrastructure.
