I’ve had a few people ask me lately if I’m still doing truck repairs, so I figured I’d put a quick update out here! 🚛👇

The short answer is yes and no.

As many of you know, I battled with severe carpal tunnel syndrome for six long years—which meant endless sleepless nights and massive pain in both hands. Thankfully, I’ve since had both ligaments released, but it was a massive wake-up call to start looking after my health.

Because of that, I made the decision to move into Plant, Agri, and Hydraulics full-time. It means no more rushing and racing around the roads at all hours for breakdowns, and a much better pace of work.
I still genuinely enjoy working on trucks, but they are heavy going on the body. I’ve also spent far too many years repairing vehicles only to end up chasing people for money or dealing with the grief of someone expecting a miracle.

Life is too short for that! So going forward, I am only taking on truck repairs for my good, honest, regular customers who appreciate the work and don't give me any hassle.

Below is a recent job I done on a plant recovery truck. Beavertail completely stripped back to solid material. New cross members welded in, new timber flooring and mesh refitted. All metal cleaned and rust treated prior to painting with oxide paint. Rear hubs pulled and all brake disk bolts removed without needing replacement hubs.
New brake pads and disks fitted, Brake callipers greased and inspected.
New brake chambers fitted ready for test.

During my time at Pirtek, tagging every hose was standard practice. In June 2018, I replaced a hose on this digger and took a photo. Fast forward eight years later: I returned to change that exact same hose, and my original tag was still there. The company name on my shirt may have changed, but the level of service remains identical. Safe to say, we know hydraulics.

Setting engine speeds after fitting a new fuel rack and solenoid to a komatsu pc26 machine previously diagnosed by someone else fitting 2 new batteries. Would have been cheaper to fix it right first time.
