Look for early slipped or damaged tiles, loose verge details, blocked gutters, water staining, draughts or signs of damp. Catching a problem now can help a much bigger and more expensive one later.

If anything looks wrong, stay safely on the ground and ask a qualified roofing contractor to investigate.

Our winter roofline guide explains what to look for and how the right roofline, ventilation and rainwater systems help protect your home through the colder months.

The less visible details matter just as much.

Your designer and roofer should consider how the complete roof will deal with local exposure, ventilation and long-term weather protection.

You do not need to become a roofing expert. You simply need the right people to have considered the full build-up.

Bringing roofing details to life through hands-on CPD.

A big thank you to O’Connor Burke Architecture for joining us for our recent Kytun CPD session at our head office in Kilmacrennan, Co. Donegal.

The session gave architects in the practice the opportunity to walk around, handle the products and examine the details up close—connecting technical information with practical applications.

Being able to see how components fit together opens up useful conversations about specification, installation and detailing, helping bridge the gap between drawings and the finished roof.

If you’re interested to bring Kytun’s technical expertise to your practice or project team, book a CPD here: https://www.kytun.com/technical-support/cpds/

The range combines quick installation with durable aluminium construction and a clean, consistent finish.

Its performance is supported by independent BRE testing to BS 8612, a 30-year material warranty and a 20-year colour warranty.

Black and blue-black are available as standard, while Kytun’s in-house pretreatment and powder-coating facilities support bespoke RAL colour requirements.

For project teams, that brings installation efficiency, defined warranties and technical evidence into one verge system.

• Has the fixing specification accounted for the building’s exposure?
• Is the underlay suitable for the anticipated wind pressure?
• Do the ventilation, ridge and verge systems work with the surrounding roof build-up?

On a commercial project or large housing development, one unresolved detail can be repeated across a substantial roof area or multiple buildings.

Our latest guide looks at how architects, specifiers and roofing contractors can coordinate the complete pitched roof build-up, assess product evidence and manage changes from specification through to installation.

𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬.

For architects, specifiers and contractors, the important questions are clear:

• Which product was tested?
• What standard was used?
• Does the evidence cover the precise configuration proposed?
• Would an alternative product provide genuinely comparable evidence?

These questions matter when similar-looking systems are presented as equivalent.

Ahead of World Standards Day, we are looking at the role clear standards, independent testing and accessible technical information play in more informed roof specification.
