Current Members: Dorota Borowa, Chloe Brenan, Claire Burke, Myrid Carten, Niamh Coffey, Sarah Edmondson, Hazel Egan, Kieran Gallagher and Paul O'Neill. Ormond Studios was founded by a group of 2009 graduates as a self-
managed, centrally situated, affordable working space for emerging visual artists.

We are delighted to announce as our 2026 Graduate Resident Awardee here at Ormond Artist Studios!

Milly Courtney Dunne is a Dublin-based multi-disciplinary artist and recent NCAD Fine Art Media graduate. Her work examines the relationships humans generate with modern technologies, how these pairings are wrapped up in intimacy, uncertainty and dependency.

Moving from a practice centred around artificial intimacy, her work now considers the habitual relationships we form with our personal devices. She examines how we increasingly embody and mould ourselves around the seemingly insignificant iPhone, using her own relationship with the device to question where its presence ends, and her sense of self begins.

Her practice often revolves around digital fabrication, using the process of translating between digital and physical forms to examine how technology mediates our relationship with the body and virtual space.

* Open Call - 2 Full Time Memberships Available *

Ormond Art Studios is looking for 2 new Full-time members! We are an artist-run initiative in Dublin City, which consists of a total of seven full-time members. Our members have access to two shared studio spaces which are based on Ormond Quay and they can avail of shared studio equipment, one of the studio spaces available for exhibitions and events.

A Full-time member is given a dedicated personal space of roughly 2 x 2.5 m. The monthly rent is currently €100 which includes utilities. A minimum of 6 months residency is required, as well as taking on a role in the running of the studios, please see the application guidelines for further details on the roles to be filled. These are shared roles with current members and would suit visual artists with an active practice who are also able to spend regular time in the space and engage in day-to-day life of the studio.

Applications will be selected based on willingness to engage with the studio community, artistic quality and availability to contribute to the running of the space alongside their practice.

Deadline for applications: Friday 14th September 2026

Successful applicants will begin their membership from Thursday October 1st 2026

Join us for an evening of artist studios, conversations, and contemporary art at Ormond Art Studios 🫧💎

A selection of our members will open their studio doors, share their work, and talk about their individual practices.
Explore the studios where ideas take shape and artworks are made. Discover a wide range of approaches to contemporary art, meet the artists behind the work, and get a glimpse into the everyday life of one of Dublin’s longest-running artist studios.

Tours will begin every hour from 4pm to 7pm, September 18th for Culture Night 2026

The Graduate Residency Award is back and we couldn’t be more excited! 🙇‍♀️

The Ormond Studios Graduate Programme is dedicated to supporting emerging visual artists. It provides a platform for artists to develop ideas they have been working on in college or to explore new ideas and working methods.

Artists are selected on the merit of their artistic work and ability to express novel ideas that deal with contemporary concerns. The opportunity is intended to support recent graduates’ art practice as they transition from 3rd level education through a studio residency, €500 stipend, peer mentoring and the opportunity to showcase their work at a solo show exhibition.

This residency will begin September 1st and culminate in a solo exhibition in the Ormond Project Space in early October. Each resident is different and we aim to support the awarded artist’s individual needs and interests. We welcome applications that explore alternative exhibition methods such as workshops, talks, performance pieces, online publications and socially engaged artworks.

Applications are open to recent BA graduates who are within one year of finishing their studies.

-A letter of interest on your plan for the residency and how it will benefit your practice (300 words max).

-An Artist Statement detailing the working methods and main concerns of your practice (300 words max).

-Examples of work included in the PDF: documentation of work in the form of images or videos hosted on Vimeo/YouTube/Own Website (please make sure these are not password protected/provide a password).
Please include: title, medium, dimensions/duration and date of work. (10 works max).

Ormond Studios is delighted to announce Laura Dunwoody as the recipient of our 2026 Project Residency!

Laura Dunwoody is a socially engaged photographer and community artist whose practice is centered on community cohesion through collaborative arts. Working through participatory approach; she researches the value of non-formal education in community spaces and the wider impact it has on the development of young people in Irish society. She is interested in how forms of education are shaped by the environments in which they take place.

Her photography is driven by question of representation in marginalised social groups that were harmed by photography and denied access to the medium. She is committed to making photography more accessible by opening up space for more considered ways of seeing.

We couldn’t be happier to get back to our regular program and first up is our Project Residency! 🙇‍♀️💙

We are currently seeking applications from emerging visual artists, the purpose of the residency is to provide time and space for the development of artistic research in a comfortable, practical and supportive environment.

This is a 5 week residency from July 20th - August 24th 2026 and there is a stipend of €500 included

Deadline for submissions - midnight July 13th 2026

We are so delighted to update that we no longer need to relocate and that Ormond Quay will continue to be our home!
It has been a long journey to get to this point and we would like to thank anyone who was kind enough to reach out with information, advice/support, to anyone who answered an email from us or took the time to write a reference it has all helped and we are very grateful for our community!

WE NEED A NEW HOME

After 15 years located on Ormond Quay our lease is up and we are facing the challenge of finding a new home for Ormond Artist Studios

Ormond studios is an artist-led, not for profit initiative in Dublin City center and has been a platform for emerging visual artists since 2010. The studios have supported the development of arts practice through affordable studio provision, critical discourse and space for events, residencies and exhibitions. We believe in collaboration and connecting with other creative initiatives to develop a network of support for artist-led initiatives in Dublin and beyond.

The hunt for a new space to call home has been gruelling and though we are hopeful we have faced a lot of let downs, so we are reaching out here for any guidance, support or leads from our community 💫
