Solmatix Renewables

Solmatix Renewables Serving the UK & Ireland from our headquarters in Nutts Corner, Crumlin, Co.

Antrim, Solmatix are a leading provider of renewable energy technologies for commercial, agricultural and domestic customers. Solmatix’s entry into the now highly competitive renewable energy marketplace has proven to be timely. Reserves of fossil fuels are dwindling and ever greater emphasis is being placed upon renewable sources to combat climate change. Solmatix is hitting well above its weight

in this arena and is acting with both prudence and vision in developing strong relationships with international leaders in the fields of Solar PV, Solar water heating and Biomass Boilers, including BRE, UserHuus (Swiss) Queen’s University Belfast, and CSEM (Swiss). And as its work at South West College in County Fermanagh shows, the company is now also leading the field in the UK in its adoption of Battery Power technology to harness and store excess renewable energy form Solar PV.

This week, Natalee Ali represented Team Solmatix at the SCAPE Regional Construction Works & Services Framework Market Engagement Event.

Bringing together major contractors, specialist subcontractors and supply chain partners, the event provided valuable insight into what is expected to be a significant £1.2bn public sector framework opportunity over the next four years.

One message came through loud and clear.

Renewable energy is no longer being viewed as a standalone addition to projects. Solar PV, battery storage, EV charging infrastructure and wider Net Zero initiatives are becoming integral parts of the conversation from the earliest stages of planning and procurement.

Another key theme was collaboration.

SCAPE placed a strong emphasis on building relationships across the supply chain, recognising that successful project delivery depends on contractors and specialist partners working together to create long-term value for communities.

For Team Solmatix, events like this are about more than networking. They allow us to understand where the industry is heading, strengthen relationships and ensure we're well positioned to support future public sector decarbonisation projects.

A great event, with plenty of opportunities for the future.

Delivering Solar within a live educational environment requires far more than just technical installation expertise.

Team Solmatix recently completed an 80.91kWp Solar PV installation at Wi******er College in Hampshire as part of the College’s wider sustainability and estate decarbonisation strategy.

Delivered across multiple pitched roof areas within an operational independent school environment, the project required detailed planning and coordination throughout to ensure:

🔹 Safeguarding requirements were maintained
🔹 Disruption to pupils and staff was minimised
🔹 Existing roof integrity and aesthetics were protected
🔹 Safe access and operational continuity were maintained across the estate

The completed system is expected to generate approximately 75,000kWh of renewable electricity annually while supporting long-term operational carbon reduction across the College estate.

Projects like this demonstrate how Solar is becoming increasingly integrated into complex, operational environments where stakeholder coordination, planning and safe delivery are just as important as the installation itself.

A fantastic project for Team Solmatix to be involved in.

The Future Homes Standard and Future Buildings Standard are changing the conversation around Solar.

For years, Solar PV was often viewed as an optional sustainability add-on. Increasingly, that’s no longer the case.

As regulations continue to evolve, renewable technologies are becoming part of the wider conversation around compliance, operational efficiency and future-proofed building design.

What does that mean in practice?

We’re seeing:

☀️ Solar being considered much earlier in the design process

☀️ Greater coordination between roofing, M&E and structural teams

☀️ Increased focus on grid strategy and export limitations

☀️ More demand for battery storage integration

☀️ Sustainability targets influencing procurement decisions from day one

The industry is shifting from “Can we add Solar?” to “How do we design buildings properly around it?”

For developers, contractors and consultants, early coordination is becoming increasingly important, not just for compliance, but for long-term commercial performance too.

The projects seeing the best outcomes are usually the ones where Solar is part of the conversation from the outset rather than introduced later.

Last week, we shared the exciting news that team member, Stacey, would be representing Ireland in the Women's O40s Masters Hockey Home Nations Cup.

We're delighted to report that the tournament was a great success, with the team recording a fantastic win over Scotland, a hard-fought draw against England and a narrow defeat to Wales in a series of highly competitive matches.

The weekend provided a brilliant opportunity for the squad to build momentum and gain valuable experience ahead of the Masters World Cup in Rotterdam this July.

Balancing the commitment required to compete at international level alongside work and everyday life is no small achievement, and we're incredibly proud to see Stacey representing both Ireland and Team Solmatix on the international stage.

A huge congratulations to Stacey and the entire Ireland Women's O40s squad on a fantastic Home Nations campaign. We'll be cheering you on as preparations continue for the World Cup!

Good luck, Stacey!

World Environment Day is an important reminder that sustainability isn’t just about long-term targets or future ambitions.

It’s about the decisions being made today.

Across homes, businesses, schools and public-sector buildings, we’re seeing more organisations take practical steps towards reducing energy consumption, lowering carbon emissions and investing in long-term renewable infrastructure.

Solar continues to play a major role in that transition, not just because it supports environmental goals, but because it also helps create more resilient, efficient and future-focused buildings and businesses.

At Solmatix, we’re proud to work on projects across the UK and Ireland that are contributing towards a more sustainable future every single day.

Because meaningful change doesn’t happen through one big moment, it happens through thousands of smaller decisions made consistently over time.

How long does a Solar installation actually take?

It’s one of the first questions we’re asked, especially by homeowners who are keen to get started.

The good news is, in most cases, a domestic Solar installation can be completed in just 1–2 days once everything is in place.

That includes:

☀️ Panel installation

☀️ Inverter setup

☀️ Battery installation (if included)

☀️ System testing and commissioning

Of course, there’s some preparation beforehand such as system design, approvals and planning, but the on-site work itself is usually quick, efficient and designed to minimise disruption to your home.

We’re also seeing more and more homeowners making the move to Solar, particularly with the continued uncertainty around energy prices and the desire for greater control over monthly costs.

And with 0% finance options now available, it’s becoming a much more accessible step allowing you to install Solar without a large upfront cost.

In most cases, the process is far simpler, and faster, than people expect.

If you’ve been thinking about Solar but weren’t sure what’s involved, we’re always happy to have a no-obligation chat👇

With energy prices continuing to rise, both businesses and homeowners are asking the same question: how can we take greater control of our energy costs?

The answer isn't simply about reducing bills today. It's about generating your own power, protecting yourself from future price increases and creating long-term energy certainty.

Whether you're a business looking to reduce operational costs or a homeowner seeking greater energy independence, solar energy is becoming one of the smartest long-term investments available.

In our latest online feature with Business Eye Magazine, Managing Director Neville Bell explores why more organisations and households are turning to renewable energy, the benefits of generating your own electricity, and why now is the time to start planning for a more sustainable future.
