Starting a career in electrical switchgear? The Assured Skills Electrical Switchgear Academy in Derry-Londonderry is an 8-week programme combining classroom training with on-site experience at Vertiv.

The programme includes:
- Level 2 Electrical Installation qualification (EAL – Education and Assessment Limited)
- 5 weeks of training at North West Regional College and 3 weeks of on-site experience at Vertiv in Derry-Londonderry
- A weekly training allowance plus travel expenses
- Successful participants are invited to interview with Vertiv upon completion of the Academy

Key dates:
- Application deadline: 3 September 2026 at 12:00 noon
- Interviews: 15–17 September 2026 (at the Vertiv site)
- Training dates: 5 October–27 November 2026

Thank you from Vertiv Letterkenny and Burnfoot.

Over the past three months, colleagues across both sites supported the Irish Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, raising €16,709 to help fund services for cancer patients and their families. The teamwork and participation across the North West made this possible.

The effort began in April, when more than 200 colleagues joined the coffee morning fundraiser, and in May, over 30 people took part in the 24-hour relay walk. Candle bags were also made and sold at the event to honour and remember loved ones, with additional contributions from clients and contractors.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, participated, and helped share this across the region.

Vertiv plans to expand its manufacturing and testing footprint across Ireland and the North West, with an application being submitted to Donegal County Council for additional production space at its Letterkenny facility. The expansion supports the planned creation of up to 300 new engineering and operational roles in the region.

These positions support the manufacturing of power, cooling, and industrialized infrastructure designed to help customers deploy AI, data centre, and critical industrial applications worldwide.

This builds on Vertiv's established and growing presence across Ireland and the North West, including operations in Letterkenny, Burnfoot, and Campsie (Derry), alongside its Central Procurement Office in Limerick and sales and service office in Dublin.

"This planned investment reflects the strategic importance of our operations across Ireland and the North West. As demand for critical digital infrastructure continues to accelerate, we are helping customers to deploy AI and data centre capacity worldwide." Paul Ryan, president of Vertiv in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The proposed project is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.
