Don’t we all love the aroma of coffee? ☕️
That rich, comforting scent from freshly roasted beans is often the first thing that draws us into a great cup. But behind that aroma is a story — from the origin of the beans to the roast profile and how they’re brewed.

Understanding coffee beans is one of the most important foundations for every barista. Different beans bring different aromas, flavors, and characteristics to the cup.

At Bali Barista Center, we teach you how to recognize coffee quality, understand roast levels, and bring out the best flavor in every brew. Because great coffee starts with great knowledge.

Latte Art is More Than Just Pretty Coffee

Latte art is not only about creating beautiful patterns on your cup — it’s a sign of proper milk texture, good espresso extraction, and solid barista technique.

Here are 3 quick tips to improve your latte art:

🥛 Perfect Your Milk Texture
Aim for smooth, glossy microfoam. The milk should look like wet paint with no big bubbles.

☕ Start with a Balanced Espresso
Good crema helps the milk sit properly on the surface, making it easier to create patterns.

🎯 Control Your Pour
Start pouring from higher to mix the milk with the espresso, then lower the pitcher close to the cup when creating your design.

Mastering latte art takes practice — but with the right guidance, anyone can learn it.

Not all coffee grounds are created equal ☕️

The size of your grind changes everything — flavor, strength, even whether your machine works properly.

Too fine → water struggles to pass → bitter, harsh, over-extracted
Too coarse → water rushes through → weak, sour, under-extracted

Different brew methods need different grind levels:

Espresso machine → very fine (like powdered sugar)
Moka pot → fine (table salt)
Pour over (V60/Kalita) → medium-fine (sand)
Drip machine → medium (regular sugar)
French press → coarse (sea salt)
Cold brew → extra coarse (peppercorns)

Here’s something many people don’t realize 👇
Each machine brand also extracts differently — pressure, filter design, and flow rate vary — so the “perfect grind” for one espresso machine may choke another. That’s why baristas dial-in the grind every day, even using the same beans.

Fresh beans + correct grind size = balanced sweetness, clean body, and full aroma.

Grind right before brewing. Your coffee will thank you 🤎
