This Governor compressor in sound design mode really sparked your imagination. 🔥 A lot of you asked for examples, so let’s go a bit beyond transient shaping.

This is already moving into producer territory, but it’s absolutely worth trying. 🎛️✨

Here’s a cool way to layer drums with the Governor, for example in a DnB track:

Send your sampled loop set through the Governor: top loops, side loops if you have them, basically everything that’s part of your sample loops. 🥁

Then feed your single-shot drum hits into the sidechain input, mainly the kick and snare. Set the Governor to Medium or Hard mode and aim for around 4–5 dB of gain reduction. Make sure the first slope always gets at least 1 dB more reduction than the second one.

Try it with automatic timing first. Most of the time it pumps really nicely. If it doesn’t, leave the release at its fastest setting and slow down the attack. ⚡

Tube Boost is almost a must here, and in most cases Air mode gives the best result. 🌬️🔥

I’ll make a video of this for you one day, because it’s really visual and it sounds massive. 👀🎚️

The first Auditor Headphone Amplifiers are about to hit the road and head to their new owners! 🎧🔥

Don’t forget: the Auditor features Signal Pass-Through, which means whatever signal you feed into your 500 Series rack slot input will also appear at the slot output — and of course at the Auditor’s front-panel headphone output as well.

So you can easily daisy-chain the same signal into another Auditor, or even route it further toward your monitor speakers. Flexible, practical, and made for real studio workflows. ⚡🎚️

David from the Mixing Music Analog channel just dropped a real goldmine of audio demos in a new YouTube video, with the Gainlab Audio Wizard Tube Saturator taking center stage. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to actually hear what kind of magic the Wizard can bring to their tracks. Link below. 🔥🎛️🎚️

A quick follow-up to yesterday’s Lieutenant post 👀⚡

Just to clarify:
The mains power cables are NOT connected to the remote unit. 🔌❌

The Lieutenant system consists of:
• a Main Unit 🎛️
• and a Remote Unit 🎚️

The Main Unit usually sits in the lowest rack slot and handles all the actual connections and power management. Everything connects there. 🔧⚡

The Remote Unit is simply used to control the system remotely from your desk or sweet spot. 🎶🖥️

Clean setup, safer startup sequence, and much more convenient studio workflow. ✨

A lot of you have been asking about the Lieutenant’s Power Sequencer feature 👀⚡

So what does it actually do?

The monitor controller can manage three separate power circuits, either automatically or manually. 🎛️🔌

That means you can:
• Prevent loud “pops” from your audio interface reaching your monitor speakers during boot-up 🔊🚫
• Power your studio gear on/off in the correct order automatically 🤖
• Manually switch side racks or outboard gear that you do not always need 🎚️⚙️

A small feature that can make a huge difference in everyday studio workflow. 🎶✨
