We are highlighting a past initiative that demonstrated how community waste can be transformed into a functional local resource. By collecting 2,800 kg of wastepaper and delivery boxes from Citygate Outlets, we use it as our raw material recycled pulp and transformed it to “Hub Paper.”
Social Inclusion & Origami Application
Our goal was to bridge environmental action with social inclusion. 750 kg of the collected waste was processed into Hub Paper by workers at local sheltered workshops, St. James’ Settlement.
This project also showcased the material’s versatility through the lens of origami craft. To demonstrate that recycling paper can support complex structural design, Hub Paper was used to create a two-meter-tall Wizard RJ and BT21 characters. Thank you for artist Kade Chan and the Hong Kong Origami Academy provided the technical origami expertise, the project highlighted how Hub Paper serves as an ideal medium for large-scale creative programming and intricate folding concepts.
