The Audio Product Development Alliance (APDA) is hosting a new live talk to discuss the current uncertainty in global manufacturing and trade. Audio manufacturing, tariffs, challenges, and strategies to manage a business in an unprecedented and unpredictable environment motivate this conversation with Ben Yeung, Executive Director and Chief Strategy Officer at Fujikon Industrial Co., Ltd. in Hong Kong. Join the live discussion next Tuesday, May 6.

During this new APDA presentation, Ben Yeung will discuss with Dave Lindberg, Steven Willenborg, and Roger Shively how his company is planning and managing the current market volatility and the challenges resulting from the announced US tariffs. Seen from the perspective of an audio manufacturer that is one of the leading suppliers of headphones and personal audio products to brands from around the world, the current situation is originating a new series of strategies. There are also many different attitudes from Fujikon's customers facing this uncertain situation, and there's nothing like learning from real examples to understand the actual market conditions.

Ben Yeung is an interesting guest, since he is able to provide a unique perspective from a company with recognized expertise on headphones and true wireless technologies, ANC platforms, and application categories that are currently seeing very strong demand globally. Serving customers from all over the world with different perspectives on exports to multiple regions provides Fujikon with a broad overview of how the tariffs are affecting the business and how different regions of the world are defining new strategies as a result.

Fujikon Industrial (www.fujikon.com) is an OEM/ODM business with over three successful decades of evolution and continuous growth. The company invested heavily in R&D capabilities to be able to support its customers and gradually became a leading JDM (joint development and manufacturing) partner. The company had to navigate previous tariffs that have affected its business in past years, successfully surpassed the enormous challenges from the global pandemic, and has expanded its operations from mainland China and Hong Kong also to Indonesia, working with service partners to deal with the logistics.

This webinar will discuss the structure and the complexities of dealing with tariffs from a manufacturer's perspective, including dealing with its own parts and components supply chain from around the globe.

The Audio Product Development Alliance (APDA) is dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of professionals involved in the development of audio products, from concept to delivery.

New THD Podcast episode 112! Pauli Minnaar and Ivan Sandager from IDUN audio join us to tell us about their very cool spatial audio technology and how it creates a new dimension in listening. The way we use sound is changing. We are increasingly listening to digital media. This is driven by an exponential growth in audio content from online meetings, phone calls, podcasts, audiobooks, music movies, gaming, virtual- and augmented reality (VR/AR), and the metaverse. Soon, we’ll be wearing headphones most of the time. But listening with traditional headphones can be very tiring! This is mainly because the sound appears to be inside our heads - an unnatural experience that we have come to accept.

During everyday listening, however, we can hear where sound is coming from, how far away things are, and what space we are in. Currently, when listening with headphones, these amazing hearing abilities are lost. That is why IDUN audio has developed dynamic spatial audio (DSA) software - to restore natural hearing when listening with headphones.
