Drop-in intraoperative ultrasound: how the FUJIFILM L43K and L51K work in laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
A drop-in transducer enters through the trocar and is released onto the organ. The surgeon picks it up by the Grasp Point with a laparoscopic grasper, a robotic arm, or by hand. One transducer, three approaches: laparoscopic, robot-assisted and open.
Two sizes, two jobs:
→ L43K — 12–2 MHz, 26 mm footprint. Broad coverage for liver and kidney.
→ L51K — 15–3 MHz, 13 mm footprint. Narrow fields and robotic precision, ~3 cm working length, full wrist articulation.
With da Vinci systems the ultrasound appears inside the console next to the 3D endoscopic view through TilePro, so the surgeon scans without depending on the assistant.
Both connect to the ARIETTA platform (850DIx / 750DIx / 650DIx / 65 / 50) and support Trapezoid Mode, Contrast Harmonic Imaging, eFLOW and Real-time Tissue Elastography.
