Aegean Memories
My good friend Robert McCabe came to Greece as a young man in the 1950's. He brought along his trusty Rolleiflex and soon had a huge portfolio of photos of the period. He has written numerous books on Greece and has an honorary Greek passport. His latest book Aegean Memories is packed full of his photos.
As he says:
Here is the book. Right out of the box! It contains some 300 photos depicting life in the Aegean before mass tourism. Often, like you, we were the only tourists on an island. Many of the photos are “action photos“ showing fishing, weaving, threshing, ploughing, spinning, baking, ship building, laundering, bargaining, baptizing, shoemaking and more.
There are many unpublished photos, as well as my favorites from my books on Mykonos, Santorini, Kasos, Patmos, and Serifos. In addition to the photos its has tributes to the Aegean and its people, in poetry and prose.

It is available from the publisher Patakis and in lots of bookshops. Treat yourself.
