POWER RESTORED: HUWOOD GEARBOX REENGINEERED

Our capability was recently proven through the successful refurbishment of a Huwood gearbox for a major gold mining operation in the Ashanti Region—demonstrating how our precision engineering restores reliability and keeps critical operations running.
The Huwood gearbox was received at our engineering workshop in a failed condition, unable to transmit drive. Recognizing the critical nature of the equipment, our team conducted a complete strip-down and detailed inspection to assess the extent of damage.
Following this assessment, a comprehensive refurbishment program was executed, including:
• Replacement of all bearings
• Replacement of damaged and worn gears
• Renewal of seals and gaskets
• Thorough cleaning and dimensional verification of the gearbox housing
The housing was confirmed to be serviceable, allowing us to proceed with a full rebuild.
Precision Reassembly and Quality Assurance
Reassembly was carried out in strict accordance with OEM tolerances, ensuring optimal alignment and performance.
The gearbox was lubricated using the specified oil grade, and a series of pre-delivery checks were conducted, including:
• Backlash verification
• End float measurement
• Free rotation testing
All parameters were confirmed to be within acceptable limits prior to dispatch.
Back in Operation
The refurbished gearbox has now been successfully returned, reinstalled, and released back into service at Obuasi. This marks a full restoration of functionality and readiness for continued operation in a high-demand mining environment.
