Rain. Finally. 🌧️ After weeks of heatwave, the garden is starting to look a bit relieved. If your plants are heat-stressed, here’s what to watch for:

1. Give them time. Don’t panic and overwater - they’ve been through shock.

2. Check the soil before watering. If it’s still moist, leave it. If it’s cracked dry, water deeply but gently.

3. Some plants might look crispy for a while. Burnt leaves won’t recover, but new growth should come. Trim off the dead bits once you’re sure they’re not coming back.

4. Now’s a good time to feed them - they need nutrients to recover. Mulch around them to help soil retain moisture without staying waterlogged.

If you need anything - watering cans, hand tools for tidying up - come and see us!

Busy week at Heima 🌿 A big stack of empty Sesi Refill Station Oxford containers heading back to be cleaned, refilled and returned to our refill station. The closed-loop refill system means the containers go round and round, with less single-use plastic and less waste. ♻️

We’ve also sent a big delivery of Earthborn Paint to Kings Manor for the York St John University renovation project.

Earthborn’s breathable, eco-friendly paints are particularly well suited to heritage buildings, so it’s great to be involved in helping bring this important part of York’s history back to life with products that respect the building as well as the environment.

Yes, we stock quite frankly lovely homeware and gifts.
