We are proud to support the York & District Under 16s rugby league squad as they head out on an exciting tour to Spain.

Flying out today, the team will spend the week in Cullera, taking part in three fixtures against both Spanish and English opposition. It’s a great chance for the players to test themselves, explore, and most importantly enjoy the experience.

The squad brings together players from York Acorn and Heworth, and it’s brilliant to see the support from local clubs, parents and the wider community helping make the tour happen.

We’re proud to be able to play a small part and hope the team have an amazing trip.

Our latest 'meet the team' is Steven Benson.

Steven joined PBH in 2018 as a Surveyor and in this time has progressed to a Lead Surveyor. He has a cumulative of 9 years in the rail industry.

His typical day involves reviewing all Safety (SWP’s/TBS’s) & Site Scope paperwork, Planning shifts ahead and liaising with other colleagues for ongoing works. He also ensures all equipment is in working order, charged, in date & calibrated.

Steven says his favourite thing about working at PBH is catching up with colleagues before the shift. Then completing jobs to a high standard and in a safe manner.

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family, enjoys watching his daughter dance and coaching his son’s football team, Club Thorne U7’s.

Meet the team behind the magic…

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our long-standing team members who has been with PBH from the very start of our Survey division – meet Ryan Lees our Senior Surveyor.

With 18 years in the rail industry, Ryan joined the PBH family ten years ago when we launched our survey division.

Being site-based at various locations across the rail network means no day is ever the same for Ryan. A typical day usually kicks off with planning the shift ahead – reviewing the site and scope of work, checking equipment, and ensuring all safety arrangements and paperwork (like TBS/SWPs) are in place. As someone who often takes on safety-critical roles like COSS, PC, or ES, preparation is key.

The sense of community, support, and camaraderie across all levels of the business is what Ryan loves the most about PBH. He says it really feels like being part of a family, not just a company.

Outside of work, Ryan makes the most of his free time, spending it with his daughter, family and friends. He will always find time to catch Manchester United games or relax with a good TV series and a glass of red wine. Oh, and did we mention Ryan DJs has a hobby and has been collecting vinyl since around the year 2000?

This week, it’s time to say hello to Lead Surveyor, James Weck who marked ten years at PBH this February.

James has been working in the rail industry for 12 years and says that his favourite things about working at PBH are the teamwork, banter with colleagues and the job satisfaction.

When working, his day involves planning for the job he is working on, communicating that with the team and proposing roles for the evening's work so that tasks are completed.

Outside of PBH, James likes to spend time with his girls, watching them compete in football and netball. He also likes to go to the gym and collects Jack Daniel's!
