Here's a look behind the scenes in the workshop. πŸŽ₯

The video gives you a closer look at a molasses tank we designed, manufactured and installed for a customer we've worked with for 20+ years.

Molasses is pumped from a large main store vessel to this localised tank within the mill, where it feeds directly into the customer's process. It sounds straightforward, but as with everything we do, the detail is in the design. We surveyed the site, developed the solution using Autodesk Inventor 3D modelling software, fabricated everything in our York workshop and completed the installation on site.

Start to finish, exactly how we like it!

We're looking back to the time we had a fantastic furry visitor in the workshop... 🦊

Pretty sure he was on the hunt for his next meal and had heard about our work in animal feed.

As we made sure he was ok, we explained there's no food to be found around here, we're the engineers behind the scenes. We develop the processes and technical solutions for the animal feed mills across the UK.

And with that, he left. We're pretty sure he was impressed.
Still hungry, but impressed.

Last week, our team had 24 hours in Utrecht for Victam International 2026

We had a day of innovation and insight, and connected with familiar faces and new contacts alike.

It's exactly the kind of event that keeps us sharp.

Come with us...✈️

There's no better measure of a job well done than hearing it directly from the customer.

We recently completed a programme of repair and maintenance works for a feed mill customer, working to a tight schedule that included weekend overtime to keep production on track.

Here's what they had to say about the team:

"The guys on site worked really well and, most importantly, safely. Correct PPE and all persons in place as per the RAMS submitted. The weekend working was greatly appreciated by the business, as it brought the repair forward a day, allowing production to resume on Wednesday. The installation of the crumbler that morning certainly raised an eyebrow with the speed they had the thing in place."

This is what we're here for. πŸ˜€

Here's our May Monthly round-up!

Before May got going, we were at the SHAPA Solids Handling Industry Awards on 29th April as finalists for Company of the Year, and with David Hukins and Simon Manock jointly nominated for Engineer of the Year. Although we didn't win any awards, it was a brilliant evening, and a proud one.

May, it's been a busy one:

Some of the team have been away on site, and the workshop has been busy fabricating parts for upcoming projects, but we still managed to fit in some training.

Members of the team completed Harness Safety and Steps and Ladders training. Working at height is part of the job for our site engineers, and making sure everyone is properly trained before they go out to customer sites is non-negotiable.

Nine team members completed Apheya HACCP Level 2 training, strengthening the process knowledge that underpins everything we do on site.

It was Mental Health Awareness Week, and a timely moment to share that @ Ashlee Stabbins and Kevin Scott are now qualified Mental Health First Aiders. Alongside our Able Futures programme, it means anyone on the team has access to real support when they need it. We're proud of the culture we've built and continue to nurture.

We finished a bespoke pallet loading gate redesign project for a North Yorkshire animal nutrition supplier. A safety problem became the starting point for something much better. πŸ‘‰ https://isfyork.com/animal-feed-mill-safety/

Every project we take on starts with a site survey. This one started with a safety risk that needed fixing.

When a North Yorkshire animal nutrition supplier came to us with a failing racking system and an unsafe edge at their manual tipping station, we didn't just fix the problem. We redesigned the whole setup.

The result is a set of bespoke pallet-loading gates that protect operators, create more space for forklift manoeuvring, and can still be operated by one person, despite handling the weight of a wider-than-average loading gate.

Nine members of the ISF team completed HACCP Level 2 training last week, led by Victoria Phillips from Apheya Animal Nutrition.

The course covers the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points within animal feed manufacturing, and how they apply across raw materials, additives, blends, compound feeds and final rations.

For our project managers, designers and installation engineers, it's about more than a certificate. The more our team understands the environment our customers work in, the better placed we are to support them, from initial design right through to commissioning.

That's the kind of knowledge that makes a real difference.

Our latest article for the Process Industry Informer SHAPA Supplement is live.

"We don't sell metal. We sell solutions" is our take on what actually sets ISF apart in feed mill engineering. Because while the machines we work with are often industry-standard, the way we bring everything together is anything but.

We talk about the ISF formula, the combination of experience, industry knowledge, problem-solving and people that turns a fabrication brief into a result that genuinely improves how a mill runs.

Before we start any installation, we work closely with our customers to align with their production schedule and minimise downtime.

We're used to working within a limited timeframe, so we ensure our kit is on site and ready to go ahead of a plant shutdown. And then we work around the clock to get it installed.

Once the installation is complete, we commission the plant, run through the tests, and make any necessary adjustments. We then get the customer back up and running.

Communication is a key part of our projects. Our ongoing support gives our customers peace of mind; they know we're always there to help if they do have any issues.

Earlier this month, members of the ISF team completed Harness Safety and Steps & Ladders training. Working at height is part of the job for our site engineers, and making sure everyone is properly trained and confident before they go out to our customer's sites is non-negotiable.

It's not the most glamorous training day, but it's one of the most important. Our customers trust us to send the right people to site, and that means people who are skilled, safe and fully up to date with the latest standards.

Here's a πŸ“· montage of the team on the day πŸͺœ
