Two shortlists, one proud team.

We're delighted to share that ISF has been shortlisted for Manufacturer of the Year at The Press in York BusinessiQ Awards 2026, and our Managing Director Iain Scott, has been shortlisted for Business Personality of the Year.

Iain founded ISF 37 years ago, so seeing that story recognised alongside the team's engineering work means a great deal to everyone here.

We’re Hiring – Draughtsperson!

ISF Engineering is growing, and we’re looking for a Draughtsperson to join our friendly team in York.

If you’re comfortable with Autodesk Inventor (or similar CAD), enjoy creating detailed drawings, and like working on bespoke engineering projects, this could be a great fit.

The role includes:
• 3D modelling & manufacturing drawings
• Sheet metal and fabrication detailing
• Conveyor & structural steelwork layouts
• Working with our engineers and fab shop

We’re looking for:
• Inventor or similar CAD experience (training provided)
• Good engineering/fabrication understanding
• Someone practical, accurate and easy to work with

Some of our customers have been with us for a very long time.

A poultry mill in Buckinghamshire has worked with us for over 35 years. A feed mill in Nantwich and another in Cumbria have both been with us for almost 20 years.

We don't take that for granted. Customers keep coming back because we do the job properly, and we're glad they do.

On Saturday 3rd October, it's Buy British Day, a day that celebrates products designed and made right here in the UK.

It got us thinking about our own workshop here in York. From design through fabrication and installation, much of what we deliver is made right here by our own team for feed mills across the country.

There's something nice about that. British engineering, quietly keeping British food production moving.

Today is National Manufacturing Day, when manufacturers across the UK open their doors to show what really goes on behind the scenes.

We're not opening ours this year, but we didn't want the day to pass without saying what we're proud of.

Anyone can fabricate metal, but engineering a solution that increases throughput, reduces downtime and fits seamlessly into an existing process takes something more. It takes experience, understanding and real collaboration.

When a customer brings us a challenge, we don't just ask what needs building. We ask what needs improving.

And we deliver clarity, efficiency, and measurable improvement through our designs, fabrications, and installations.

We don't sell metal. We build solutions that work.

Exciting times ahead at ISF 👀

We've recently kick-started work as part of the Made Smarter Programme, a government-backed initiative that supports manufacturers with funded expert advice on digital transformation.

It's early days, but a specialist has already come in to take a close look at our processes, and we're looking forward to their recommendations on software and tools that could help us work smarter, not just harder.

For us, it's about moving with the times. Future-proofing the business, supporting succession planning, and finding smarter ways to work as we grow.

Nice to see this one in print. 🧡

This summer's SHAPA supplement is themed around blending, drying and material movement innovation, so we shared the story of our Cumbrian mixer upgrade, a project that ticked a few of those boxes nicely.

Double handling and dust are problems lots of mills will recognise, and this project shows what solving them properly did for the customer: a safer working environment and real headroom to grow production.
