Launched in 2003 and now with more than 4 million customers, Gear4music is the UK’s largest retailer of musical instruments and music equipment. We operate across all categories and offer solutions for everyone: from rock to classical, from studio to stage.
We are looking to bring on a number of passionate people for our Digital Marketing Apprenticeship who are interested in starting a career within the music products industry.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain on-the-job training whilst working towards achieving a formal qualification in Digital Marketing (Level 3 Digital Marketer qualification).
Please note we welcome applications from those who may have already completed a degree in a different field, additionally there are no age restrictions for individuals pursuing apprenticeships.
The Apprenticeship
Being a Digital Marketing apprentice within our Web Content team you will help to ensure products are presented and merchandised in the best possible way on the Gear4music.com website. You will be;
Researching and writing product descriptions
Using a bespoke e-commerce platform, to create web listings encompassing a wide range of musical instruments and equipment
In addition to your time within our Web Content team, this fantastic opportunity will also include on the job training from our other specialist marketing teams covering;
Social Media
Customer Services
SEO
Email Marketing
Google Analytics

Upon completion you will have gained a wealth of invaluable marketing experience working for an international organisation, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent position.
Ideal Candidates
We are looking for eager and self-motivated individuals who have already demonstrated their passion for and skills in either music, writing or marketing. You will be a keen, hardworking person able to work well both individually and as part of a team.
As such you will be a confident communicator and able to professionally engage with people at all levels within the business.
Desired Skills & Qualities
Excellent written English with a passion for creative/persuasive writing
A strong interest in online marketing, content creation and relevant technology
Excellent attention to detail, with high grammatical accuracy
Computer literate to a high standard, with good Microsoft Office skills
Ideally musically inclined with experience of at least one instrument
A positive attitude with a desire to succeed
Good communication skills both written and oral
Excellent research skills with ability to source and verify information
Basic html, SEO or Photoshop knowledge is also an advantage
Be punctual, reliable and take feedback well
Qualifications Required
Preferred GCSE grades or equivalent are required as follows: English: 7, Maths: 6, Music 6, plus five other subjects at Grade 5 and above
Applicants with lesser grades may be considered if you can demonstrate the skills we are looking for, however Maths & English Grade 5 are a minimum requirement
Future Prospects
The experience gained during your employment (and qualification/s achieved during the apprenticeship) could result in progression within the business once the successful candidate has completed their Apprenticeship to various roles within the business including: - Senior Web Administrator, Sales Advisor, Customer Service or Product Specialist.
Things to Consider
As an apprenticeship requires the completion of a relevant qualification, you must have a reasonable standard of reading and writing with an aptitude for IT. Ideally you will have internet access to allow you to download any training materials required to complete the qualification and to submit any assignments for assessment. This may involve study time both in and out of standard working hours.
Useful Information
Exceeds national apprenticeship rate - £10,270 per year (£5.00 per hour) based on skills and experience
15 month course with a working week of: 39.5 hours: 9am - 5:30pm Mon-Thu and 9am-5pm Fri
Some immediate starts
There is a requirement to pursue off of the job learning with our training provider, on average 1-4 days each month
