It is with heavy hearts we share that today, on Saturday 26th September, we have sadly lost Our Bob. A truly remarkable man who fought an extraordinary fight right to the end.
Bob was much more than a talented machinist and engineer. For nearly 30 years, he was part of our business, joining us in the Tubros days and staying with us through the journey to the company we now know as Numech.
He was one of a kind. Full of colourful language, plenty of stories, a heart of gold and an inability to never let anyone down no matter what time of day!
For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside Bob over the years, there will be so many memories. The laughs, the banter, the knowledge he shared and, above all, his unforgettable character.
People like Bob become part of the fabric of a family business. His skills and experience helped shape the company, but it is the man himself who we will remember most.
We feel incredibly lucky to have had Bob as part of our Numech family for so many years. His passing leaves a huge hole, and he will be missed more than words can say.
Rest in well-deserved peace, Bob Patt. Thank you for everything. ❤️

It was a pleasure to welcome the Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster judges to Numech this morning and share our progress towards achieving sustainable manufacturing.
As an engineering business, manufacturing isn’t necessarily the first industry people associate with sustainability but we want to demonstrate that meaningful change and a positive environmental impact are achievable, whatever the sector or size of business.
Our journey is ongoing, but we hope that by sharing the practical steps we’ve taken, we can inspire other engineering SMEs and traditional businesses to consider what they can do to minimise their carbon footprint and environmental impact.
Thank you to the BECBC judges for taking the time to visit us and hear our story.

Numech had a great day yesterday, exhibiting and attending the Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster Nuclear Sector Showcase at Energus.
It was invaluable to hear from organisations shaping the future of the nuclear sector, with presentations from Morgan Sindall Group plc, Sellafield Ltd, NRS Dounreay, Sizewell C and iSH offering insight into major programmes, supply chain opportunities and the direction of travel across the industry.
But alongside the business and opportunities, there was also a very important reminder of the community we operate within.
The presentation from Always Another Way was particularly heartfelt, highlighting the vital mental health support they provide across Cumbria and the very real challenge of keeping these invaluable services going. We'll be looking at how we can support and would urge other local businesses to do the same.
Thank you to BECBC for another thought-provoking and informative event, and to everyone who shared their time, knowledge and experiences.

At the recent iSH Manufacturing Cluster meeting at Sellafield’s Centre of Excellence, our Commercial Manager, Lynne Thornton, was pleased to share Numech’s experience of being part of the pilot SCRIP programme, delivered by iSH and Sellafield Ltd, and the benefits it has brought to our business.

Yesterday, the Numech team, represented by Lynne Thornton, Commercial Manager, and Stephen Shepherd, Business Development Manager, attended the Festival of Work at Lakes College.
We had the opportunity to engage with students through a hands-on precision measurement activity, where they used micrometers to measure the dimensions of steel test pieces. It was great to see so much enthusiasm as students developed new skills and gained an insight into the precision and accuracy that engineering demands.
Most importantly, we hope we inspired some of the young people we met to consider engineering as an exciting and rewarding career path. Investing in the next generation of engineers is something we're passionate about, and events like these are the perfect way to showcase the opportunities our industry has to offer.
A big thank you to All Together Cumbria (Sellafield Ltd and MorganSindall) and Lakes College for organising such a valuable event. We look forward to supporting more initiatives that connect young people with the world of engineering.

This week, the Numech team had the pleasure of attending the Sellafield DNWP Market Engagement Event, hosted by iSH and Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster.

The event provided a fantastic platform for SMEs to showcase their capabilities, gain insight into the future priorities of the sector, and build meaningful connections across the nuclear industry.

From the 'Meet the Seller' sessions to the opportunity to present directly to DNWP partner organisations, the visibility and engagement we received as an SME was invaluable. It was a great opportunity to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and better understand how organisations can work together to support the sector's future ambitions.

A huge thank you to iSH, BECBC and the Sellafield DNWP team for delivering such a beneficial and engaging event. We left with a stronger understanding of where Numech can play its part in helping the nuclear sector achieve its objectives.
