This week, the Numech team had the pleasure of attending the Sellafield DNWP Market Engagement Event, hosted by iSH and Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster.

The event provided a fantastic platform for SMEs to showcase their capabilities, gain insight into the future priorities of the sector, and build meaningful connections across the nuclear industry.

From the 'Meet the Seller' sessions to the opportunity to present directly to DNWP partner organisations, the visibility and engagement we received as an SME was invaluable. It was a great opportunity to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and better understand how organisations can work together to support the sector's future ambitions.

A huge thank you to iSH, BECBC and the Sellafield DNWP team for delivering such a beneficial and engaging event. We left with a stronger understanding of where Numech can play its part in helping the nuclear sector achieve its objectives.

This event provides an excellent opportunity to engage with industry partners, share insights into our capabilities, and discuss how SMEs can contribute to the future success of the DNWP programme.

We look forward to connecting with attendees, exploring collaboration opportunities, and showcasing the innovative solutions Numech brings to the nuclear sector.

Today, on what would have been his 73rd birthday, we remember our Director, Geoff Tubman.

Geoff was an exceptional engineer whose life was devoted to industry. From an early age, he showed a natural curiosity and talent, spending countless hours alongside his brother Rich fixing cars and repairing anything mechanical they could get their hands on. That passion led him to an apprenticeship at Ectona Fibres in Workington, and on to higher education where he qualified as an engineer.

In 1978, Geoff and his brother founded Tubros, “Tubman Brothers” Engineering, supporting traditional industries such as steel and mining. That venture would grow and evolve into Numech, shaping the business we know today.

His legacy lives on with his son, Richard, now at the helm, continuing the journey Geoff began and carrying that same dedication forward.

Geoff, you are deeply missed but never forgotten. Your contribution to engineering, and to all of us, is lasting and significant.
Happy heavenly birthday from us all.

We’re incredibly grateful to have been invited to the Sellafield Ltd Supplier Summit this week, bringing together senior executives and key stakeholders from across the supply chain.

As part of our strategic engagement, we greatly valued the opportunity to speak directly with Sellafield Ltd and contribute to discussions around the future development of procurement routes and supplier engagement.

It was an excellent event, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations.

• Precision both-sided mitre cuts
• Cutting material up to 410mm
• Enhanced accuracy with digital read-out technology

Did you know that Numech operates a PV solar energy generation system at our main manufacturing facility in Workington? ☀️

Sustainability is a key priority for us, and we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint in manufacturing through continued investment in clean energy alternatives.

That’s why we’re proud to support Cumbria Youth Alliance (CYA) in bringing sustainable energy to the new Workington Youth Support Hub.

As part of the Axiom/OneAim supply chain initiative, Numech recently sponsored the installation of solar power at the centre, helping to create a clean, low-carbon energy source while reducing long-term running costs.

This project reflects our shared commitment to building stronger communities while creating a more sustainable future for the next generation.

We’re proud to have donated £250 to the Gavin Curwen Heart Screening Foundation via Project Pulse, supporting a vital local heart screening initiative spearheaded by local Sellafield apprentices.

Early heart screening saves lives, and it’s inspiring to see young people in our community leading the way to make a real difference. We’re delighted to play a small part in backing such an important cause.
