A closer look at the taildoor of our insulated Smoothline 👀

Our 60/40 split design allows the lower section to lift clear before the body tips, providing room to discharge asphalt into the paver behind.

The door itself is also insulated to help retain heat and can be spec’d with or without tarmac chutes, depending on how you need to unload.

Our two-stage Pneumax safety system controls the sequence: the lower door can’t lift until the locking cams are fully released, and the cams can’t lock until it’s fully closed.

We promised a closer look at David Brown’s new insulated Smoothline, and here it is 👀🚛

Built for hauling asphalt, this 8x4 Scania has been fitted with an insulated Smoothline body and our new HeatMaxx package, helping to retain heat and keep the asphalt workable for longer.

The build includes:

🔹 8mm one-piece, deck-hardened floor
🔹 4mm hardened alloy sides
🔹 60/40 split tail door with our two-stage Pneumax safety system
🔹 HeatMaxx insulation, temperature sensors and headboard gauges
🔹 Shur-Co UK Limited Dawbarn Hydroclear lightweight sheeting system with Bluetooth remote
🔹 Full-length access ladder and walkway
🔹 LED loading and rear marker lights

Finished in white with Tarmac livery and some brilliant additional lighting from Kelsa Truck Products it’s a seriously smart-looking build.

Last week, we caught up with David Brown, a customer we’ve proudly worked with since 2003. 🤝

Over the past 23 years, we’ve supplied David with 13 tipper bodies. His latest is an insulated Smoothline, fitted with our new HeatMaxx package to help keep asphalt workable for longer.

Not a bad weekend for our latest sponsorship! 🏁🏆

We recently sponsored our customer Gareth Winterburn and his sidecar racing team, with the Weightlifter and PPG Fabrications logos taking a slightly different trip out this weekend.

Gareth and his racing partner Frankie Courtney competed at the 2026 British Masters Grasstrack Final last weekend and came away winners of the sidecar final! 👏

90 years of welding experience between them... we thought it was probably time we got them on camera! 🎥

Darren and Dick both started welding when they left school at 16, meaning they have been building tipper bodies and perfecting the trade their whole working life.

What’s perhaps the most impressive is that even after all these years, they still enjoy what they do (whilst having a good laugh doing it!).

As for what’s kept them at it all these years, we’ll let them tell you themselves... 👇

A closer look at the recycled asphalt units 👀

Last month, we shared these bodies as they were nearing completion, ready and waiting to be mounted onto their chassis.

Fast forward a few weeks, and they’re now mounted and really starting to take shape.

From recycled asphalt to aggregates and everything in between, every operation has different requirements.

Inside the workshop: it's all in the finishing touches 🔧

They might not be the first thing you notice on a finished tipper body, but the wheel valances are another part of bringing the whole build together.

Here, the individual parts are being assembled and adjusted to get the right fit before the completed valances are welded onto the body above the wheels.

As well as giving the finished body a cleaner look, they help protect it from mud and road spray and manage airflow around the wheels.

The shape and design can differ depending on the body they’re being fitted to... these ones are destined for one of our aggregate rigid tipper bodies.

We recently worked alongside Keltruck Scania on this 8x4 aggregate tipper, pairing a Scania chassis supplied by their team with a PPG-built alloy body.

A few highlights from the finished build:

🔹 Edbro CX15 front-end tipping gear
