The Calf Company has over 30 years’ experience of calf rearing and management at Pool Head Farm, from contract rearing 1000 calves a year. This has allowed us to understand the wants and needs customers have giving us a unique inside knowledge of calf health and management.

Katy has been part of the team since September 2024, working part time whilst studying for her degree at University Centre Reaseheath. As a Coordinating Assistant, Katy's role includes dealing with customer orders and enquiries whilst ensuring everything runs smoothly for our customers day to day.

Outside of working at TCC and studying for her degree, Katy works part-time with the beef herd on her family’s arable and beef farm, rearing calves and weanlings to finishing weights.

After finishing studying for her A-levels in 2022, Katy took two years working away from the family farm on two different dairy farms, primarily calf rearing. Following this in September 2024 Katy began studying for her degree in Sustainable Agriculture with Livestock Production Management at University Centre Reaseheath. She is due to start her final year in September!

Katy is spending the rest of this summer in New Zealand leaving in a couple of weeks’ time, where she will be working on a grass-based block calving system calf rearing. We hope you enjoy every minute!

OCCB Key Features:
- Full length panels between groups prevents air space being shared and the transfer of disease 🦠
- No shared air space also allows you to pressure wash & disinfect a pen with calves next door 🚪
- 53mm insulated walls helps to maintain a more constant temperature for the calves🌡️
- Each unit comes complete with a feed trough, Milkibar teat feeder, drinking bowl, front gate with person entry and a rear gutter🐮
- Poly-propylene plastic walls allows for easy cleaning 🧼

Charlotte has been a valued member of The Calf Company team since September 2023. She first joined during her placement year from Reaseheath College, where she was studying for her Level 3 Technical Diploma in Agriculture. Charlotte continued working with us after finishing her course in 2024. She is now working four days a week, placing orders, dealing with customer enquiries, and ensuring everything runs smoothly for our customers day to day.

Outside of work, Charlotte manages the calves on her family farm in Middlewich, working with them before and after her working day. At home, she’s also involved with their pedigree dairy herd under the prefix Danevalley Holsteins and enjoys exhibiting her animals at shows in her spare time. Charlotte is a proud member of Middlewich Young Farmers, where she is both stock judging and netball captain.

At the end of April Josh and Barry fitted 8 Optimum Calf Climate Barns in Devon🔧

The OCCBs house 6-10 calves until around 12 weeks of age. Each unit creates its own microclimate, preventing air being shared between neighbouring groups. This helps to reduce the spread of disease and promotes healthy calf growth🦠📈

Multiple housing bays can be linked together, allowing you to expand the system and accommodate larger numbers of calves as needed🐮🏠
