🙏 THANK YOU!
📝 Long post incoming but I’ve got a lot of people to thank as always…
🎄 We’ve enjoyed another great year of Windsor Tree Man, becoming faster and more efficient, and hopefully delivering the same great customer experience to all of our new and returning customers. Although this is the first year in our 12 year history that we didn’t actually grow in number of trees collected, we have managed to learn and track in more detail how we can improve and grow next year!
🤝 I want to focus this thank you post around the local businesses and organisations that help us do what we do. Without them, none of this is possible.
🦌 Back in November, The Windsor Boys' School Boat Club (TWBSBC) got back in touch to relaunch our longstanding, very successful referral partnership and collaboration on social media posts & email marketing. Everybody at the club does an incredible job of maintaining, growing and promoting TWBSBC across their rowing events, fundraising and work at their MTTC site to help give the crews the best chance of achieving their goals in the sport. See you next year, Uno Animo!
🚐 On New Years Day, I collected the caged transit tipper from Sparks hire and lease . We’ve hired vans from Steve & Grady for 5 years now, and every single time they have been faultless, reliable and meticulously maintained. Even though it was NYD, and Grady was actually enjoying a trip away, he made arrangements for me to collect the van from a member of his team. I say this every year, but it’s the only invoice I never mind paying, without their generosity, flexibility and support on social media, we could not have grown to anywhere near this size. I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of a Sparks van in 2027 🤩
🌳 We made a big change this year from using the TWBSBC site, as our good friends at Calibra Tree Surgeons Ltd were kind enough to lend us the yard space we now need, and more importantly, the manpower to get the trees through the chipper (sorry lads, short straw!)
The Calibra team is full of hardworking, skilled professionals and it is easy to see why they are the best in the game. Working alongside Mark & his team has shown me the definition of a well oiled machine, and I’ve taken away lots to work on in my other business. They’ve still got a decent pile to get through, and they are still taking bookings for those of you who missed your chance with us

💪🏻 Speaking of teams, it’s important to thank the people that help me to deliver WTM and my other main business.
😔 Unfortunately, my storage container had an attempted break in while I have been away running WTM, that has resulted in some damage and required a visit to check nothing had been taken. Thank you Julian for securing the container, attending an emergency call out job to secure a property and ferrying keys around for the properties we are completing renovations on.
💰 Alongside the collections, our year end tax return, my self assessment tax return, and our quarterly VAT submission have all required some input from me and my transit shaped office, so thank you to everyone at Clear Accountants for sticking with me and the delays in response!
👨🎨 Also have to credit Curtis Deal for moving us onto Canva for our much improved graphics we’ve used this year
🧩 Every piece of the Windsor Tree Man puzzle relies on a business or organisation created by people who took the risk to start a business, and I’m sure every single one of them will agree;
Nothing worth having comes easily, and there’s no substitute for hard work
Service based businesses are the hardest of any, and if you can, using them will bring you the greatest quality result and customer service.
👰♀️ Most importantly, my amazing wife who’s been managing the routes, lists and messages this week, whilst working her full time job. We have celebrated New Year’s Eve together just once in the 8 years we had been together, as we are always getting prepared for the first days collections. This year was our second NYE spent apart makes the van a lonely place for so many hours at a time, but she’s been at the end of the phone keeping me company and motivated to get the routes done even into the early hours!
😅 That’s us done and dusted, all the equipment is returned, and I’m ready to hibernate for another 11.5 months. Thank you all for your support, it’s a pleasure to deliver the tree man service every year.
📅 See you in 2027, we hope you have a great year (apart from anyone who parks on double yellows in central Windsor, I hope you step on Lego every day for a year)
