After months of planning, logistics, infrastructure work and installation… our new Bodor fibre laser is now in, commissioned and running — and we couldn’t be happier with the results so far.

This investment significantly strengthens our profiling capability and allows us to offer:

•4m x 2m cutting area
•Cutting up to 30mm thick
• Increased profiling capacity
• Faster turnaround times
• Improved accuracy on complex stainless and aluminium parts
• Greater efficiency across production

It’s been great to see the whole project finally come together, from groundwork and preparation through to installation, training and first cuts.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen — a real team effort from start to finish.

We’re excited for what this means for the future of Cumbria Profiling and look forward to supporting both existing and new customers with even greater capability moving forward 🚀

📊 Meet the Team: Shannon-Lee Hill

Shannon-Lee is our Business Administrator, bringing energy and organisation to a fast-paced and varied role.

What she enjoys most is that no two days are the same—working with a wide range of unique businesses and seeing projects progress from initial order, to drawings, right through to final production.

One of the most interesting parts for Shannon-Lee is reviewing the drawings for each order. From tiny components to massive fabrications, there’s always something new to figure out.

Although she’s just getting started, she’s already hit the ground running—quickly picking up invoicing and getting to grips with the role (with plenty more to come!).

Her day-to-day involves a bit of everything: speaking with customers, managing invoices, liaising with suppliers, tracking orders, and keeping everything organised behind the scenes.

If she wasn’t in this role? In her ideal world, she’d be running a countryside art studio—painting, crafting, and creating (even if just for the fun of it!).

And when it’s time to get away, her dream destinations are Bora Bora and Japan 🏖️🏙️

👔 Meet the Team: David Ferguson

David is our General Manager, overseeing the day-to-day running of the business—from quotes right through to invoicing—keeping everything moving smoothly behind the scenes.

What does he enjoy most? A 4-day working week is definitely a highlight. But beyond that, it’s the variety—no two days are ever the same.

One of David’s biggest achievements has been playing a key role in growing and developing the company since returning, helping drive it forward with a clear focus and direction.

If he wasn’t in this role, he’d still be working within the steel industry—proof that it’s where his experience and passion lie.

And when it’s time to take a break, his dream destination is Thailand 🌴

Great to see the new Bodor fibre laser coming together after months of planning, logistics and infrastructure work.

This machine will support:
• cutting up to 40mm thick
• Increased capacity on profiling projects
• Faster turnaround
• Improved accuracy on complex stainless & aluminium parts

Next steps are delivery, commissioning, operator training and final integration into our workflow.
Big thanks to everyone involved—this is a solid investment in our future capability and we’re looking forward to getting it cutting.

Here at Cumbria Profiling we have a team ready to take on Movember!

We're partnering up with our friends and colleagues from Tweddle Engineering to do our part to raise awareness and funds for a very worthwhile charity!

Some of us are taking on the move challenge and have set our 60km in November targets and some of us are growing the 'Mo' in support of a bro!

This charity does incredible things to support men and their mental health and we're ready to do our bit to support them in their efforts!
